Thief rapes maid ‘Egyptian police remand Kuwaiti to 15 days custody’

KUWAIT CITY, April 15: Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt, Dr Rasheed Al-Hamad has confirmed that the Kuwait citizen who was accused of smuggling Egyptian antiquities has been remanded to police custody for 15 days pending investigation, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
He also said the embassy has hired a lawyer to defend him and added he is serious about following up the issue.
Al-Hamad told the daily the embassy is waiting for the completion of the detention period to know the results of the investigation. He pointed out the Egyptian prosecution is accusing the Kuwaiti citizen of trading in Egyptian antiquities, firing at police and wearing a military uniform to mislead the security authorities.
Al-Hamad also said the citizen is part of a 10-man gang. He stated the man’s family and the embassy is closely monitoring the outcome of the investigations.

Thief rapes maid: Police are looking for an unidentified thief who allegedly broke into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Sulaibikhat and raped the Asian maid when he found there was nothing worth stealing in the house, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the incident happened when the family was visiting friends. The thief broke into the home and found nothing worth robbing then he tore the clothes of the maid and raped her.
The maid called the sponsor and he immediately returned to his home, took the maid to a police station and filed a complaint against the culprit.

Overdose kills man: An unidentified citizen who was recently released from prison after serving a 15-year sentence in the kidnap and rape case of an unidentified minor Arab girl, allegedly died of an overdose of drugs inside his home at an unidentified location, reports Al-Rai daily.
A security source said the victim’s family informed the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior, police and paramedics rushed to the home and found the victim lying on the floor.
The remains were rushed to the Criminal Evidences Department to identify the cause of death and it was discovered the man died of an overdose of drug.

Cabbie in booze trade: The Farwaniya police have arrested an unidentified Asian taxi driver for trading in locally-manufactured liquor, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to security sources the driver tried to change route and mounted a footpath when he saw a security check point in Khaitan.
The vigilant cops rushed to the spot and arrested the man and found in his possession 20 bottles (big and small) of liquor.
During interrogation he admitted to trading in liquor and said he sold the big bottle (one liter) for KD 2 and small bottle for KD 1 to ‘customers’ in Murgab.
Three charges — trading in liquor, violating traffic rules and evading police arrest — have been filed against the man.
