‘Stepmother watches porn in my presence’ Divorced couple’s girl refuses to visit father’s home
KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Cassation Court rescinded an earlier decision allowing the daughter of a divorced couple to visit her father in his home after she complained that her stepmother allegedly abused her physically and psychologically.
Case files indicate the court granted the couple joint custody of their daughter after the divorce, allowing her to stay with her father every Thursday and on the first day of the Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. However, the child, who is below 12 years old, told her mother - a Kuwaiti - that her stepmother insults her every time she stays in her father’s house. She said her stepmother watches pornographic films in her presence.
This prompted the child’s mother to hire Attorney Ali Al-Ali to represent her in court to request for the cancellation of a decision on her daughter’s visit to the house of her father. The lawyer argued in court that the behavior of the stepmother will have a negative impact on the personality of the child.
‘Healer’ released: The Misdemeanor Court chaired by Justice Suleiman Hamada refrained from passing judgment in a case filed against healer Jamal Shumar for practicing medicine without license and fraud.
The court ordered release of the defendant on KD 100 bail.
The case file indicates a Kuwaiti woman accused the defendant of fraud and complained he had failed to heal her.
She claimed the man healed patients who suffered ailments similar to hers, so investigators ordered arrest of the defendant and charged him for defrauding the complainant.
The defendant lawyer Ali Al-Ali argued that his client was using the Holy Quran to heal people and maintained that Almighty God is the healer. He said people are only trying to dent his client’s image because he recites portions of the Quran to heal people. He described the defendant as honorable and assured he’s not involved in sorcery or magic.
