KUWAIT CITY, April 13: Police have arrested a number of Asians for stealing manhole covers from roads on expressways, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The arrest came following a call from a Kuwaiti man to the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior that he had seen two men in a half lorry stealing the covers.
Police rushed to the spot and arrested the suspects. The men allegedly tried in vain to escape. Police have reportedly seized from the men 30 covers and referred them to the authorities.
During interrogation the men admitted to stealing covers on several occasions and selling them in the scrap market in Amghara.

You are stupid doctor!:  Police are looking for a well-built youth for verbally abusing and assaulting a casualty officer and a paramedic at the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital, reports Al-Anba daily.
This happened when the youth took a patient to the casualty clinic in the wee hours of the morning. The youth allegedly called the Egyptian doctor on duty stupid and when the officer and the paramedic intervened he assaulted them and escaped.

Accountant betrays trust: Police are looking for a Syrian man for betrayal of trust, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
A police source said the arrest came following a complaint filed by a Kuwaiti man. The Kuwaiti said the suspect worked as accountant in his company. The man is said to have stolen KD 16,000.

Missing youth in jail: The GCC youth who was earlier reported missing by his father is in fact in custody of the Criminal Investigation Department, reports Al-Anba daily quoting knowledgeable security sources.
The youth is part of a 10-man gang which was caught red-handed for stealing copper cables worth KD 100,000 from oil installations in the northern borders of the country.

Top army officer probed: An army sergeant major has been referred to the army intelligence department for selling missile batteries at the Amghara Scrapyard, reports A-Rai daily.
A knowledgeable security source said the suspect was put under surveillance for some time and caught in the act.
The daily did not give more details.

Brothers beat inspector: Police have arrested two Egyptian fishermen for assaulting an inspector from the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources inside the Souk Sharq Fish Market, reports Al-Shahed daily. This happened when the two men were issued a citation for not abiding by hygiene rules. Both men are believed to be brothers and they have been referred to the authorities.

2 drugs with drugs: Police have arrested two Kuwaitis for consuming and possessing drugs, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The men were initially arrested for reckless driving along the King Fahd Expressway and patrolmen discovered they were under the influence of drugs. Police have seized from the men two sachets of heroin and drug consuming tools and referred them to the Public Prosecution.
