Expat acquitted in forgery Drug pills used as medicine: lawyer
KUWAIT CITY, April 9: The Court of Appeals acquitted an Arab man of smuggling narcotic pills into the country.
Attorney Hesham Abdulaziz Al-Fahd, who represented the accused in court, questioned the procedures applied to search his client at the Abdally Border. He argued his client had no criminal intent in bringing the pills from Iraq to Kuwait as he obtained them through a prescription issued by a physician in his country. He pointed out his client needs the medicine as he is suffering from an undisclosed illness.
The Public Prosecution had previously appealed the verdict of the Court of First Instance, which acquitted the suspect, but the Court of Appeals upheld the ruling of the lower court.
The session was presided over by Judge Nasr Salem Al-Heed.
Women molested: Capital securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti for consuming alcohol, disturbing the public and molesting women inside a famous commercial complex in the governorate.
Securitymen rushed to the complex after receiving a call from an unidentified person who witnessed the unusual behavior of the Kuwaiti. When the officers arrived at the scene, they realized the Kuwaiti was under the influence of alcohol. He was referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
Expat acquitted: The Criminal Court refrained from imposing a sentence on an expatriate man, who has been accused of forging official documents, but asked him to sign a pledge of good conduct for one year and released him on KD 300 bail.
Case files indicate the man’s ex-wife sued him for allegedly putting entry stamps on her passport and that of her daughter at the airport even if she did not leave Kuwait on the supposed date of departure.
Verdict upheld: The Appeals Court supervised by Judge Faisal Al-Huraiti upheld the verdict of a First Instance Court that acquitted an officer of abuse and damaging weapon from a crime scene. The case file indicates the defendant tried in vain to explain to the plaintiff that he was also a police officer when he arrived at a crime scene. This created an argument between them, in the course of which the plaintiff filed a case against the defendant and accused him of damaging a weapon at the scene. The defense attorney Misha’al Sabah Al-Zufairi argued the plaintiff had accused his client falsely and that elements of the allegation are invalid.
Eve-teasers held: Police arrested three men for harassing women and families at a popular mall in Salmiya.
Securitymen from the Salmiya Police Station rushed to the location after receiving information on the incident. They arrested the three men in the act of disturbing some women in the mall.
A case was registered against the three men, who were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.
