Kuwaiti inventors clinch three medals in Geneva Sabah Al-Ahmad Center holds int’l innovation exhibition
KUWAIT CITY, April 9: Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC) yesterday announced that three Kuwaiti inventors were medalists at the 39th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the largest international innovation competition comprising 780 inventors from 45 countries worldwide.
Dr Turki Al Dhafiri received a silver medal, while Engineer Abdulmohsen Almoumen and Engineer Abdullah Al Hashash received a bronze medal each for their inventions that were ranked the best between over 1,000 innovations by a panel of expert judges throughout five days.
Geneva International Exhibition for Inventions is the largest and most renowned competition worldwide, gathering the best inventors. Endorsed by the Swiss government, the competition attracts over 60,000 visitors annually. Kuwait participated in the exhibition 19 times, previously winning 19 gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
SACGC General Manager, Dr Omar Al Banai said: “We are very proud of all three of our Kuwaiti inventors that participated in such a competitive exhibition and yielded outstanding results, adding to Kuwait’s notable roster. This comes to show that talented and gifted scientists and inventors exist in Kuwait and can compete at a global level.
This success drives SACGC to continue to support Kuwait’s talented and gifted individuals for the benefit of Kuwait’s tomorrow, and as part of the Amir’s vision in investing in the human capital.”
SACGC fostered and supported three Kuwaiti inventors for the first time as part of its first projects to support individuals in the field of science and technology. The Kuwaiti inventors were Engineer Abdulmohsen Almoumen for his invention liquid level warning device, Engineer Abdullah Al Hashash for his invention water supply system, and Dr Turki Al Dhafiri for his invention of a mathematically educative package.
SACGC is extending an invitation to the Kuwaiti community to participate in the welcoming celebration of the inventors that will take place on Monday April 11 at 11 pm in ‘Tashreefat’ hall located at Kuwait International Airport.
Team Leader of the Kuwait Office of Inventors at SACGC, Engineer Khaled Al Hasan said: “Our success at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions is not only about the inventors, but also about the community that have a huge role in supporting such gifted and talented people. We are very proud of our inventors and we welcome community members to join SACGC in this celebration; it is much their success as it is ours.”
As an initiative by HH the Amir, SACGC sponsors and supports gifted and talented individuals in the community by providing them with a support and mentoring platform that enables them to reach their maximum potential and make them globally competitive in their fields.
The center defines gifted individuals as individuals who demonstrate outstanding levels of aptitude or competence in one or more domains. Domains include any structured area of activity with its own symbol system (eg, mathematics, music, language) and/or set of sensorimotor skills (eg, painting, arts, sports).
