The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will freeze the bank accounts of five charity organizations until they legalize their positions, Al-Seyassah daily quoted Manager of Charitable Societies and Foundations Department Ahmad Al-Sane’ as saying.
He said the committee in-charge of following up charitable work in the country decided to shut down societies which were violating the objectives for which they were established and will also take action against societies which set up branches inside residential areas without obtaining licenses.
Al-Sane’ further said the department gave a deadline for ten charity societies to submit their administrative and financial reports and pointed out that some of these societies have many branches and hence, need more time to prepare comprehensive reports.
