Kuwaiti drunkard stabs Arab expat motorist Egyptian held for forging visa expiry date
KUWAIT CITY, April 6: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man for drinking alcohol and stabbing an Egyptian man with a knife, reports Al-Anba daily.
A police source said the Egyptian has been admitted to a hospital with a deep cut on his neck. From his hospital bed, the man said an unidentified person driving an American car stopped by and asked if the man (the victim) could help him.
Then in a quick movement he stabbed the man in the neck for no reason and escaped.
A little while later the same man, who was high on alcohol, came to the hospital with a 20 cm deep cut on his thigh and accused the Egyptian of stabbing him.
During interrogations police discovered the man thought he had killed the Egyptian and stabbed himself in the thigh to make it appear he stabbed the Egyptian in self-defense.
Dates altered: Director of the Se-arch and Follow-up Department at the General Immigration Department Colonel Naguib Al-Shatti has referred an Egyptian man to the concerned authorities for forging the expiry date on his residence permit to avoid paying the KD 600 fine and make it look like he has overstayed the country only for one month, reports Al-Anba daily.
The Egyptian’s residence permit expired 18 months ago and he allegedly got rid of the number eight to read it one month.
The daily added the Egyptian was unaware that all information is fed in the computer network.
Scribe wins case: The Civil Bench of the Court of First Instance ruled in favor of Kuwaiti journalist Fuad Al-Hashem working for the Al-Watan Arabic daily and ordered the editor-in-chief of Abraj newspaper Ahmad Al-Haifi (known as Mansour Al-Muhareb) to pay KD 2,000 compensation, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily added Al-Hashem is expected to appeal the verdict. He has sued the editor-in-chief for KD 10,000.
Ear slit in brawl: The Hawalli po-lice have arrested two Jordanians for slitting the ear of a Kuwaiti man during a fight on the Restaurants Street in Salmiya, reports Alam Alyawm daily.
A police source said the Jordanians who have a criminal past allegedly escaped after committing the crime but it did not take police much time to arrest the suspects. The daily did not give more details.
Addict arrested: Police have arrested an unidentified person for driving under the influence of drugs and causing a traffic accident on the Jahra Road. A security source said as a result three cars were damaged, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the man who caused the accident got out of his vehicle and started running but other motorists seized him and called police.
