Private sector laid off workers to get compensation ‘Govt plans to create 20,000 jobs for youth’

KUWAIT CITY, April 2: Secretary General of the Government and Man-power Restructuring Program (GMRP) Dr Waleed Al-Wahib said the government is on the verge of making decisions to create jobs for the youth annually, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Dr Al-Wahib made the statement in London while the daily inquired about programs the GMRP is implementing as part of the development plan of the government. He added many decisions will be issued this year to create 20,000 jobs in two years, and explained that many other projects and recommendations on attractive entitlements, allowances and services will attract the applicants to join private sector companies and institutions.
More than 5,000 students have been trained on time investment and skill development over the last eight years in the private sector, he indicated.
Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary General for Labor Affair at the Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) Fawzy Al-Majdaly said citizens who have been laid off from the private sector will be paid allowances for an additional six months. They have been receiving the allowance for a whole year now, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to Al-Majdaly, the government is keen on supporting such citizens financially and socially. He added that 190 citizens will receive the allowance which will cost the state KD 155,000.
In another report, the Cabinet has reportedly approved a number of allowances for Kuwait Municipality inspectors, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Informed sources say besides inspectors, employees in the imported foods administration at Shuaiba Port will get pollution compensation allowance. The workers union at the municipality is seeing the development as its achievement.
