MP blasts some Info employees for ‘unprofessional’ behaviour New municipality law forwarded to Fatwa and Legislation Dept

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: MP Faisal Al-Duwaisan condemned some Ministry of Information employees for their unprofessional behavior during raids on certain satellite TV channel offices, reports Al-Anba daily.
Al-Duwaisan said a ministry employee was caught on surveillance camera slapping an Egyptian employee of a production company during one of the raids. “The only mistake of the poor employee was that he was recording the incident on his mobile phone,” said the lawmaker.

Al-Duwaisan also criticized acting Minister of Information Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah’s decision to shut down mobile phone news services and a website that published statements he deemed illegal without transferring the case to competent authorities.

The lawmaker further condemned a group of reckless youths who assaulted head of Juvenile Investigations Department Bader Al-Ghathori, and called on authorities to punish those responsible so that the dignity of police is restored.

The Council of Ministers recently forwarded the new municipality law to the Fatwa and Legislation Department to determine its legal structure, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

The daily quoting Minister of Public Works and Municipality Dr Fadhel Safar said the department will also
amend law 5/2005 by merging proposals submitted by the MPs and the Council of Ministers to strengthen the role of the public by increasing the number of elected members in the central municipal assembly and additional elected municipal council members in each governorate.
Meanwhile, the minister said the new foodstuffs regulation bill will be submitted to the municipal assembly for approval.

He noted the amended bill rectifies mistakes in a way that benefits the public.
With the organizational structure of the municipality, he stressed the composition of all institutions in the public sector could be changed after two years. He added that the sector will discuss any proposal in that regard with the Higher Council for planning, and the new structure will be forwarded to the Civil Service Commission.
