Peppermint ice cream
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb peppermint stick candy;
- 3/4 cup cream or top milk;
- 1/4 tsp salt’
- 1/2 tsp unflavored gelatin;
- 2 eggs;
- 2 tbsp sugar;
- 1 cup cream whipped
Method: Crush candy fine. Put with milk, salt and gelatin in top part of double boiler. Place over boiling water and heat, stirring occasionally until candy is melted. Remove from stove, strain and refrigerate it, chill thoroughly. Separating the eggs beat the whites first to froth, add sugar gradually mix until stiff. Beat the yolks until thick and lemon colored. Mix the yolks into whites and the whipped cream. Mix with the peppermint mixture and return it to freezing tray, freeze, stirring occasionally. Serve with hot fudge sauce or devils food cake.
