Health insurance hospitals will improve medical services: study Surgeons remove tumor weighing 3 kilos from kidney of patient

KUWAIT CITY, March 22:  The consultative team tasked to conduct a feasibility study on the establishment of health insurance hospitals said the project will greatly improve the medical services in the country and reduce pressure on the Health Ministry, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.

The team made the statement Monday in a symposium at the Safir Hotel in Bneid Al-Gar in the presence of a large number of representatives from private companies interested in buying 26 percent of the shares through public subscription, which will open in the next few weeks.

Chairman of the Founding Committee Mohammad Al-Mulaifi revealed the project, which has a capital of KD 318 million, is part of the implementation of law number 1/1999 on improving the health insurance system in Kuwait.  He said this is the beginning of a real partnership between the public and private sectors.  He explained this initiative is aimed at activating the role of the private sector in providing the best healthcare for citizens and residents, since it includes the construction of three hospitals and 15 clinics.

A team of surgeons at the Al-Seif Hospital headed by Urological Surgery and Endoscopy Consultant Dr Abdullatif Al-Turki successfully removed a tumor weighing 3 kilos from the kidney of a Kuwaiti patient who is believed to be in his 50s, reports Al-Shahed daily.

Dr Al-Turki said the surgery was successful and there are no complications or danger of cancer cell spreading in the body.

The Newborn and Deceased Administration at the Ministry of Health is exerting tremendous efforts to resolve difficulties that Bedouns may face in applying for birth and death certificates, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Abdulkareem Ja’afar.

Ja’afar said his sector will meet the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) soon to come up with a clear mechanism to speed up processing of the applications.  He explained the sector will consider ways to issue birth certificates according to court declarations given to Bedouns in place of marriage certificates, which are not granted to them.
