Cops beaten, abused
KUWAIT CITY, March 17: Police are looking for unidentified youths for assaulting patrolmen and hurling abuses at them, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports when the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior received complaints from residents of Salwa that shots were fired in the air during wedding celebrations and disturbances caused by reckless motorists several patrolmen were dispatched to the area.
The police arrested some reckless youths and impounded two sports cars. After calm was restored to the area, the patrol cars left the place except for one patrol car.
After some time about 40 youths arrived at the scene assaulted the patrolmen and hurled insults at them and escaped.
It has been reported police have got the identities and information about number plates of the trouble makers.
Top officer run over: Assistant Director of the Department of Planning at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Ibrahim Al-Sayed Hashem who was run over by an unidentified motorist has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Farwaniya Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily.
This happened when the senior official confiscated the car registration book of a reckless motorist and was issuing him a citation. Another motorist apparently ran him down.
Acting on information paramedics rushed to the spot and found the official lying on the ground.
The motorist who ran over the Brigadier has been arrested and referred to a police station.
Police investigations are continuing.
Rotten foodstuff seized: Nearly half ton of spoilt foodstuffs were confiscated during surprise campaigns launched in Kabad and Mutla’a areas, Director of the Jahra municipal branch Abdullah Al-Ali told Al-Anba daily.
He added that 22 billboards erected on state properties were removed, while 164 citations were issued to grocery stores and hawkers. He said more such campaigns would be launched and no stone would be left unturned in the attempt to rid the country of stuffs that could affect the health of citizens and residents.
Youth beats elderly man: olice have arrested an unidentified youth for beating an elderly person, reports Al-Rai daily.
A police source said the youth was riding a motorbike and crashed into the façade of a shop belonging to the victim.
The source added the man criticized the youth for reckless driving and at this point the youth allegedly lost his temper and hit the man with a piece of wood causing him injuries on the head and fracture on the nose.
The youth has been arrested and detained at the Rumaithiya Police Station. Two cases have been filed against him — damaging private property and assaulting an aged man.
