MP raps calls for pay hike Govt lauded for patch-up efforts

KUWAIT CITY, March 5: MP Saleh Al-Mulla commended the government for the reconciliatory steps it took recently to ease tensions in the country and asked it to continue in the same spirit, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The government recently withdrew many court cases against its opponents and cancelled a request it sent to Constitutional Court, demanding explanation of some articles.

Al-Mulla said the ‘Only Constitution’ bloc will continue to meet whenever the dignity of people or the Constitution is at stake and added that the bloc will continue to oppose any attempt to violate them. On the growing demand for single constituency system, he said it would require constitutional amendment and the time is not ripe for such a development. He said any attempt to forge ahead will plunge the nation into the unknown.  He condemned calls for salary increases without taking into consideration economic indications, and also opposed the cancellation of water and electricity bills.

He called on Deputy Premier for Economic Affairs and State Minister for Housing and Development Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahd to desist from his present style of leadership, saying the ‘one man show’ attitude of Abu Fahd will only lead to the end of his tenure.
