Lankan expat succumbs to stab wounds as Jleeb Asians ‘battle’
KUWAIT CITY, March 1: A Sri Lankan expatriate, believed to be in his 30s, died and three others were wounded in a nasty fight that broke out among a group of Asians at a late hour in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area.
On receiving information about the fight, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the scene, but were told that passers-by referred the injured to Farwaniya Hospital. Police then went to the hospital where they learnt that one of the men had died. He was reportedly stabbed twice in the neck.
Police arrested eight men involved in the fight, including the man accused of stabbing the Sri Lankan, and referred them all to authorities.
Drug peddlers held: Police have arrested two bedoun for trafficking in hashish, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The arrests came when a Kuwaiti man, whose identity has not been disclosed, saw a bag in the garden of his home in Mubarak Al-Kabir and discovered it contained 250 grams of hashish in addition to 11 fingers of the same drug.
Investigations conducted by police led to arrest of one bedoun who admitted that the bag belonged to him. The bedoun, who is the neighbor or the Kuwaiti also said he kept the bag in the man’s garden because he felt it was a safe place.
During interrogation he gave the name of his accomplice who also told police that he and his partner took small quantities of the drug from the bag from time to time.
The contraband and the suspects have been referred to the authorities.
Absconder trapped: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti man who has been sentenced in absentia to five years imprisonment in a drug-related crime, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the man was arrested on suspicion while driving in a suburb of Ahmadi.
Police are also said to have seized from him narcotic pills and heroin. He has been referred to the Sentences Enforcement Department
Woman’s bag stolen: Police are looking for an unidentified person who allegedly broke into the car of a young Kuwaiti woman and stole her handbag containing KD 200, reports Al-Rai daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the thief.
