Police trio probed for freeing MP’s drunk secretary Govt seeks Kuwaiti’s ‘return’ from Canada in wife’s murder
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 27: The Canadian authorities are said to have released a Kuwaiti man who escaped to Montreal on a forged passport two months ago after killing his wife, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
It has been reported the man was believed to be carrying five forged passports. However, the Kuwaiti Interpol has sent a request to its Canadian counterpart to arrest the man in an attempt to extradite him to Kuwait.
The suspect is said to have applied for the Canadian nationality. However, he is being prosecuted for entering the country on a forged passport.
Police trio probed: Three securitymen — a police officer, a corporal and a policeman — from the Jahra Police Station have been referred for interrogation after an unidentified young woman who was in police custody is said to have escaped, reports Al-Rai daily.
The woman is part of a trio — a secretary working for an unidentified MP, and two young women — who were earlier arrested for drinking alcohol.
The secretary and one of the women were released (the daily did not provide details about the release) but the other woman, who is believed to be an expatriate was referred to the police station because she has been staying in the country illegally after the expiry of her residence permit.
The CCTV cameras installed at the police station show the suspects helping the woman to escape. Police are looking for the runaway woman.
Earlier it was reported the drunkards were arrested while driving in a car and although the MP sought their release, all his efforts were in vain.
