Asian takes pills to kill self US woman among four killed in weekend traffic accidents
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: A 31-year-old Asian man attempted to commit suicide by swallowing a large number of tablets in the house of his sponsor in Ardiya.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location after the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) received a call from the Asian’s sponsor, who found him lying unconscious inside his room with an empty bottle of an undisclosed medicine near him.
Paramedics took the Asian to Farwaniya Hospital where he is now confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as he is said to be in serious condition.
A case was registered and investigations are in progress to determine the actual circumstances that prompted the Asian to try to take his own life.
Junkyard brawl: An Afghan man, in his 30s, got multiple injuries after engaging in a fistfight with a compatriot at the Amghara scrapyard recently.
Police and medical emergency personnel rushed to the location after receiving a call from an unidentified person who witnessed the fight. When the rescuers arrived at the scene, they found one of the Afghans writhing in pain. He was admitted to Farwaniya Hospital, while his compatriot was taken to a nearby police station for questioning.
Asian held with liquor: Securitymen arrested an Asian man for the possession of nine bottles of liquor.
While on duty in the area, the securitymen flagged down the Asian’s vehicle for inspection. The officers noticed the Asian looked agitated, so they searched his car thoroughly, resulting in the discovery of nine bottles of alcohol. A case was registered against the Asian.
2+2 arrested: Police arrested two men and two women at a checkpoint in Kabad for consuming alcohol.
While patrolling the area, the security officers noticed the erratic movement of a vehicle. They signaled for the driver to pull over and when they approached the car for routine inspection, the officers noticed the two men and two women were under the influence of alcohol.
After a thorough search of the car, the officers found a bottle of liquor. They referred the group to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action.

Two youths died on the spot, among them an 18-year old citizen, and eight others were wounded after their vehicles collided on Wafra Road. Paramedics accompanying securitymen to the scene couldn’t revive the deceased after the Operations Room received report about the accident and the rescue team was deployed there. The remains were referred to Forensics while the injured people were carried to the Kuwait Oil Company Hospital. Later, one of the injured people also died in hospital.
Similarly, an American woman in her 30s was killed and her compatriot was injured after their car overturned on the way to the camp.
The deceased woman had already succumbed to severe injuries she sustained before paramedics arrived at the location.
An Afghan man in his 40s was critically injured after his truck overturned on Salmi road. He was referred for treatment by paramedics.
Meanwhile, another American citizen was injured on Al-Mutla’a Road. The man sustained fractures to the left shoulder after his car collided with another car, and he was transferred to the Jahra Hospital by Medical Emergency Men.
In another incident, an Egyptian man and a Kuwaiti woman sustained various degrees of injuries when their cars collided on Al-Maghrib Highway. They were carried to the Amiri Hospital.
Also, a citizen in his 40s was injured in a two-car collision accident and was sent to Al-Farwaniya Hospital by paramedic for medical attention.
And, 41-year old Jordanian man suffered injuries in different places of the body after an accident on the Sixth Ring Road opposite Ishbiliya. The man was referred to Farwaniya Hospital.
Teens in fight: Two Kuwaiti teenagers, 18 and 19 years old, were injured when they engaged in a fistfight with four young compatriots in Sabah Al-Nasser.
Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location and took the injured to the nearest hospital. Initial investigations revealed the youths used sharp objects in attacking each other.
A case was registered and police are now looking for the other teenagers who escaped from the scene when they saw the approaching police vehicle.
