Pakistani gets jail for abducting, robbing Bangladeshi cab driver Cross-dressers freed
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: The Court of Appeals recently upheld the verdict of the Court of First Instance and sentenced a Pakistani man to seven years imprisonment followed by deportation after completing the sentence for kidnapping and robbing a Bangladeshi man and damaging his car, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The same court also reduced the sentence of another Pakistani and put him behind bars for one year instead of seven years.
Case papers show the accused stopped the Bangladeshi taxi driver and asked him to take them to Qurain.
On their way they pulled out a knife and threatened to kill the man if they did not hand over the money and all his belongings. Then they beat him, stole his car and escaped.
After the victim filed a complaint with the police, they found the fully burnt car abandoned in Wafra.
After the men were arrested, they admitted to the charge.
‘Return jewelry’: Personal Status Circuit Court of Cassation, presided by Judge Abdul-Muhsen Al-Ajeel in its verdict has ordered a Kuwaiti woman to return KD 2,000 worth of gold jewelry which she had received as part of dowry. The court also compelled her to pay legal fees, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The case papers indicate the husband had filed a case against his wife accusing her of abusing marriage vows.
Cross-dressers freed: The Court of Appeals recently overturned the verdict of the lower court and released two cross-dressers on KD 500 bail each. The accused were earlier sentenced to six months imprisonment, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The Public Prosecution had charged the duo with dressing like women and disturbing the social arena in addition to running a prostitution ring.
However, the defense lawyer denied the accusations and claimed his clients were innocent.
2 held gambling: The Farwaniya police have arrested two Asians for gambling. They were reportedly caught in the act on an open ground in Khaitan, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information raided the place and seized the two men and also confiscated from them a sum of money and playing cards.
They have been referred to the concerned authorities.
Laptop stolen: An unidentified female Egyptian doctor has filed a complaint with the Salmiya Police Station accusing unidentified persons of breaking into her car and stealing her laptop computer, reports Al-Anba daily.
She added the laptop contains important information and medical reports of patients.
She went on to say after work she went home and left her computer and bag in the car and she was shocked when the watchman of the building informed her the next morning that someone had broken the side glass of her car.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
