Syrian and his Sri Lankan wife freed, but guilty of aborting fetus Filipino held with 96 liquor bottles
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 18: The Jahra Prosecutor has ordered the release of a Syrian man and his Sri Lankan wife on bail after the couple is said to have submitted a marriage contract which shows the couple was married five years ago, reports Al-Anba daily.
However, the couple stands guilty of aborting the fetus.
Earlier, the Jahra CID men had arrested the couple and accused them of illegal relationship and giving birth to two children and aborting the third child.
The Syrian is said to have told the Public Prosecutor although the children were born from a legal marriage, he was unable to register them and complete formalities to legalize their births because of financial problems.
The Syrian is also said to have told the Prosecutor the wife aborted the child without his knowledge due to financial difficulties.
Filipino arrested: The Jahra police have arrested a Filipino for possessing 96 bottles of locally manufactured booze and referred him to the authorities, reports Al-Anba daily.
A security source said the man was arrested by traffic police on suspicion because he slowed down while approaching a check post and later got out of the vehicle and tried to escape on foot.
Somali assaulted: Police have arrested two men and are looking for a third for allegedly kidnapping and beating a Somali paramedic, reports Al-Anba daily.
Earlier it was reported the Somali was caught by three brothers for intruding into the home of a Kuwaiti man in Ardhiya to meet their teenage sister. However, reports show the man is a victim of kidnap.
The men allegedly claimed they were securitymen and took him from Ardhiya to Firdous where they beat him with the help of others for unknown reasons and handed him over to the Ardhiya Police Station and filed a house break-in complaint against him.
In due course all these charges proved to be false and two of the ‘kidnappers’ are cooling their heels behind bars. Police investigations into the case are continuing.
