Labour union members of civil aviation threaten to go on strike Demands not met since many years: Rifaiy
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: Members of the labour union of civil aviation are threatening to go on strike on March 7 if their demands are not met.
Union President Raja Al-Rifaiy said the demands of civil aviation (including the airport) employees were not met since many years and added that more than 1,000 employees are expected to participate in the strike which will disrupt aviation activities.
Al-Rifaiy said the union demanded that the government provide special clothes and protection gear that are required for the job and which they currently buy at their own expense. He complained about the lack of action of the Communications Minister Dr Mohammad Al-Baseeri who, he said, did not fulfill his promises on these issues. Al-Rifaiy also said the employees want to have a “proper pay scale” as is the case with other employees in other sectors in the country.
