Indications of Cabinet reshuffle after holidays ‘No one will dare suspend our Constitution’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: There are indications of impending massive cabinet reshuffle after the national celebrations, and many lawmakers, technocrats and public figures are said to have been contacted on the issue, reports Al-Dar daily.

Sources said the Audit Bureau reports would be used to evaluate all serving ministers, and those found wanting would be eased of their portfolios among them ministers who have failed to respond to parliamentary questions and caused friction between the executive and legislative authorities.

He added the government is keen on creating cordial relationship with the National Assembly, as the move would bring stability in the country and help move the development project forward.

Meanwhile, Al-Seyassah has reported MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri hailed decisions and steps adopted by the cabinet in its Sunday session, describing them as positive and self-correcting measures.
In a statement, the lawmaker said the next step for the cabinet is to stop the wastage of public funds, since the National Assembly will coordinate with the government to expose all corrupt practices in the ministries and institutions of the country.

“No one will dare to suspend our Constitution as we are a State of institutions. Moreover, the suspension of Constitution amounts to a felony,” MP Adnan AbdulSamad told Al-Rai daily.
He further said MP Rola Dashti’s insistence on cancelling the law of segregation will backfire and she will lose the next elections.

KUWAIT CITY: Editors-in-chief of local newspapers and Kuwait Journalists Association (KJA) have appealed to HH the Amir to order the Cabinet to withdraw draft laws proposing amendments to the press and publication law and audio-visual media law, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The government had submitted the draft laws to the parliament for ratification.
During a meeting held on Monday, KJA and editors-in-chief of various dailies appreciated HH the Amir “for his reconciliatory steps that created an atmosphere of optimism in the country.” HH the Amir had instructed that all lawsuits filed by the Ministry of Information against mass media be dropped.
