250 kilos rotten fish, veggies, meat confiscated
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: Personnel from the Kuwait Municipality during an inspection campaign are said to have confiscated 250 kilos of stale fish and vegetables and meat unfit for human consumption, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The team also sealed two shops and issued 23 citations to shopkeepers for not abiding by hygiene rules.
Torture confession: MP Mohammad Hayef Al-Mutairi said he plans to raise the murder issue of a Kuwaiti woman who was allegedly strangled to death inside her apartment in Mahboula. At the time of the murder the woman was said to be in her 20s, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Mutairi added he recently paid a visit to the Central Prison and met a prisoner identified as Hamad Al-Ajmi. Al-Ajmi is accused of committing the crime.
Al-Mutairi said during conversation Al-Ajmi has denied committing the crime. He added he was tortured by First Lieutenant, identified only as Al-Awadhi, to force him to confess to committing the murder.
Drunk-driving mishap: Police have arrested an unidentified youth for driving under the influence of alcohol and possessing drugs, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the suspect was arrested after he was involved in a traffic accident in Sabah Al-Salem. He allegedly lost control of his car and crashed into a lamppost.
He was taken into custody after personnel from the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry rushed to the spot after being informed by passersby.
At the time of the arrest the youth, who escaped with minor injuries, was high on alcohol and was in possession of a finger of hashish. The drunkard has been referred to a police station.
Campsite looted: Police are looking for unidentified persons for stealing valuables from a camp in Mutla’a belonging to a Kuwaiti man, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
In his complaint to the police the Kuwaiti said the thieves tied the feet and hands of the guard behind his back and escaped with the loot. They also gagged his mouth to prevent him from screaming for help. Among the stolen items are a power generator, electrical appliances and other stuff.
