Police reject ‘rumours’ woman expert in abductions on streets

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12:Rumors about an Egyptian woman in her 50s who allegedly escaped from a prison in Egypt and arrived in Kuwait were doing rounds over the past few days, but a security source said they are just baseless rumors, reports Al-Anba daily.
Owners of BlackBerry sets were receiving these rumors as text messages. The messages said the woman specialized in kidnapping children and came to Kuwait to carry out her business. The messages carried the photo of a woman and requested people who see her to call the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry (112). One of the messages even said the woman was seen in Al-Rawda area.
The security source said the story is fake and unfounded.

Asian dies in mishap: An unidentified Asian expatriate died in a traffic accident in Ahmadi, reports Al-Rai daily.
The victim reportedly lost control on his car and it overturned on the side of a road.
The victim’s remains have been referred to Forensics and police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Heroin found in jail: The Central Prison administration launched a surprise inspection campaign and seized three grams of heroin from ward 7 and 15 cell phones and 4 chargers from other wards, reports Al-Anba daily.
Sources say inmates are being interrogated to find out who the items belong to and how they managed to smuggle them inside.
Prisoners serving time for drug-related crimes are put in ward 7.

Wanted Kuwaiti held: Farwaniya police arrested a 37-year-old Kuwaiti man who was wanted for serving a three-year jail term, reports Al-Anba daily. The man was driving recklessly on a road in Firdous when he was arrested. Police also seized a tool for cutting metals from his possession. The suspect was referred to Forensics for blood test and later to the Sentences Enforcement Department.

ATM stolen, cash pulled: A 44-year-old Kuwaiti man lodged a complaint at Andalous Police Station, saying someone withdrew KD 380 from his bank account, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The complainant said he lost his ATM card and later received a text message from the bank, saying the said sum had been withdrawn.

Man hits police car: Hawalli police arrested a motorist for crashing his sports car into a police vehicle in Salmiya before speeding up, reports Al-Rai daily.
Investigations conducted by securitymen led to the address of the motorist in Sulaibiya and they arrested him.

Fire smoke kills boy: A Kuwaiti boy was asphyxiated after inhaling smoke from a fire that engulfed the family house in Al-Oyoun-Jahra, reports Al-Rai daily.
Following a distress call the Operations Room received about the fire, a rescue team rushed to the scene and managed to remove the boy from his room. However, he was declared dead on arrival to the Jahra hospital.
In the meantime, firemen put out the blaze and registered the case for investigation to identify the cause of the fire.
