2 Moroccan women acquitted in fraud case

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: The Misdemeanor Court acquitted two Moroccan women of swindling a Kuwaiti woman.
Case files indicate the accused encouraged the plaintiff to buy and sell women’s products from Morocco to earn huge profits. She then gave the Moroccan women an undisclosed amount of money to start the business. When she did not hear from them after several days, she called them but their mobile phones were switched off. She had no option but to file a case against them.
However, the lawyer of one of the defendants succeeded in convincing the court that the case was fabricated. He said his client was just a victim of the feud between the other defendant and the Kuwaiti. After weighing the arguments of the lawyers of both parties, the court ruled in favor of the Moroccan women due to lack of evidence.

Girl not abducted: The Criminal Court acquitted a Kuwaiti man of kidnapping a teenaged girl after hearing the testimony of the alleged victim.
Case files indicate the Kuwaiti was accused of kidnapping the girl after spending five days with her at a camp site in Kabad.
During the hearing, the girl told the court she met the accused last year. She said that on the day of the alleged kidnapping, she agreed to meet the accused at a commercial complex in Salmiya and they later went to the camp site. She admitted spending five days with the accused at the camping area but she confirmed that he has not done anything to dishonor her.
The defendant’s lawyer argued in court that the kidnapping case filed against his client has no legal basis, considering the testimony of the girl. The court ruled in favor of the Kuwaiti and declared him innocent.

Site owner acquitted:
The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict of the First Instance Court, which had earlier acquitted the owner and administrator of a website of defaming a citizen.
The Public Prosecution had previously charged the website owner of using his site to malign and threaten a citizen.  However, the lower court dismissed the case due to lack of incriminating evidence.
The citizen’s lawyer appealed the case but the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the website owner. The session was presided over by Judge Abdulnasser Khuraibet.
