Fines, prison increased for traders selling spoilt food Indians selling US Army items
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Subaih affirmed that 70 percent spoilt food cases have been referred to Commercial Prosecution and “the merchants involved will be severely punished,” reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Al-Subaih said the fines for such violations have been increased from KD 10,000 to KD 50,000 and punishment from five years in jail to 10 years, in addition to cancellation of commercial license.
Gunfire at wedding: Police are looking for an unidentified person for endangering lives of people by shooting randomly in air during a wedding ceremony in Jahra, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The Operations Department of the Interior Ministry received many calls from people in the vicinity but the shooter sped up on sensing the arrival of police. Police noted down the plate number of the suspect’s vehicle.
Indians selling US Army items: Securitymen arrested three Indians for selling helmets and bulletproof vests belonging to the US Army on the 7th Ring Road in Kabad, reports Al-Shahed daily.
A police source said securitymen, after receiving information about the activity of the three Indians, put them under surveillance and arrested them in possession of 60 bulletproof vests and 65 helmets and referred them to authorities for interrogation.
Mechanic misuses car: A Kuwaiti in his late 20s lodged a complaint in Shuwaikh Industrial Area Police Station against an Arab mechanic who damaged a car he was asked to fix. According to the complainant, he left the car at the garage and discovered it had been damaged, as he went to check the car the following day. He got wind that the mechanic had used the car for personal errands, in the course of which he crashed into another car.
