Toddler survives 5th floor fall in Sharq Bedoun duo held for stealing building items
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: A three-year-old child miraculously survived a fall from the balcony of a fifth-floor flat in Sharq, reports Al-Rai daily.
The child was rushed to hospital with several bruises and injuries.
Al-Anba daily, however, gave a different account, saying the child was seven years old and had died instantly. It also said the child was of Syrian nationality.
Bangladeshi beaten: Police are looking for an Iranian eggs distributor for assaulting a Bangladeshi and running away with documents in the latter’s possession in Surra, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The Iranian was reportedly angry because the Bangladeshi managed to distribute eggs to most co-operative societies and super markets.
Bombs at camp: Anti-explosive experts rushed to a scouting camp in Kabad and dealt with cluster bombs which are believed to be remnant of ordnances left behind by the defeated Iraqi army in 1991, reports Al-Anba daily.
A teacher noticed strange objects in the camping location and called the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry. Police patrols and ordnance disposal personnel from Kuwait army combed the area and dealt with the ordnance.
Miraculous escape: A car went up in flames on the King Fahd Expressway, but its occupant miraculously escaped unhurt, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A police source said the high speed at which the vehicle was moving caused an electric short-circuit which in turn triggered fire.
The motorist managed to get down in the nick of the time, said the source, adding firemen put out the fire.
Shop on fire: Firefighters from Jahra and Sulaibikhat Brigades extinguished a fire that erupted at a shop in a junkyard containing car parts. No casualties were recorded.
Bedoun duo held for stealing building items: Police arrested two Bedouns for stealing iron and other construction materials in Kabad.
While patrolling the area, the securitymen got suspicious when they noticed a vehicle with tinted windows. They then signaled for the driver to pull over and they discovered there were two Bedouns inside.
When the officers searched the vehicle, they discovered an undisclosed quantity of iron and other construction materials. Initial interrogations revealed the duo stole the items from a construction site in the area. The suspects were referred to the relevant security department for prosecution.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti filed a report at Rumaithiya Police Station that his motorbike, which was parked in front of his house, was stolen.
The complainant told police he was surprised when he returned home as the motorbike worth KD 2,800 was missing. Suspecting that somebody stole the motorbike, he immediately reported the incident to police, who rushed to the location and lifted fingerprints to identify the thief.
The Kuwaiti also provided police with a detailed description of the motorbike and its plate number to ease the search procedures. Investigations are underway to arrest the suspect.
