Plan to inaugurate many vital projects on national holidays New clinic, power station, sea port on the cards

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5, (KUNA): The Ministry of Public Works is finalizing a number of development projects as well as signing some other integration deals for 2011 coinciding with Kuwait’s celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of Independence, the 20th Liberation Day, and the Fifth year of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s rule.

Head of the Ministry’s Public Relations Hamid Bu-Shri told KUNA that the Ministry would be finalizing a number of development projects, including the new headquarters for the Sports Club for the Deaf that was handed to the Public Authority for Youth and Sport (PAYS) on January 30th.
The Ministry also handed in the National Library on February third in the presence of His Highness the Amir, noted the official, hoping that such establishment would lead to the bolstering of knowledge and education in Kuwait.

The official noted that the most recent entry in the development sphere would be the new Al-Uqaila area Health Center that would be opened tomorrow, adding that the Ministry would also be holding a press conference to update the public on the Jahra Highway project.

On February 21-22, the ministry would be handing in the Hawalli Court and Uqaila power-station projects, said the official, adding that next March His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah would lay the cornerstone for the Mubarak Al-Kabir seaport in addition to other commitments in April.

In another development, Kuwait’s ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Al-Sabah stressed on Saturday that the Bahrainis’ support for their Kuwaiti brothers during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 had greatly contributed to alleviating the suffering of the Kuwaitis.

In his speech during a ceremony to honor Bahraini families and social figures who hosted Kuwaitis during the Iraqi occupation, Al-Sabah said “this selfless act is not new to the leadership and people of Bahrain who supported the legitimacy of Kuwait.” He added, during the ceremony that took place late Friday, that the initiative to honor those Bahraini families and figures came as a gesture to repay and give thanks and gratitude to the Bahrainis’ humanitarian stance and their alleviation of the Kuwaitis’ suffering during that dark period.
This ceremony coincides with Kuwait’s national celebrations of the 50th Independence Day, 20th Libration Day and the 5th anniversary of His Highness the Amir’s assumption of power.

On their part, a number of Bahraini figures valued this honoring ceremony, noting that their welcome and hosting of Kuwaitis during that time stemmed out of their brotherly duties to extend help in times of need.
