‘Business failed’; woman loses cash & car Govt ration shop looted

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: An Arab expatriate allegedly swindled a GCC woman to the tune of KD 40,000, in addition to an expensive German-made car and a laptop, reports Al-Rai daily.
The woman and the Arab man reportedly agreed to set up a restaurant together and it was agreed that she will bear the cost and he will manage the business. After the woman gave him the sum, he reportedly talked her into buying him an expensive car and a laptop “for prestige’s sake” and she relented.
The woman trusted the man so much that she got the car registered on his name and didn’t even take any receipt. Some time later, the man just claimed that the business failed and washed his hands off the project.
Police summoned the expatriate for investigations during which he said they started a commercial project together, but it failed.

Ration shop looted: Police are looking for an unidentified person, who allegedly broke into a subsidized distribution center in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, carting away KD 130 and an undisclosed quantity of food supplies, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to a security source, the Egyptian guard of the center found the door broken when he reported for work at 8:00 am Thursday.  He told police the center was in total disarray, adding the thief took      KD 120 from the safety deposit box, KD 10 from the cashier’s booth and an undisclosed quantity of food items.
A case was registered and police are now looking for the suspect.

Fake lawyer held: Securitymen arrested an Egyptian expatriate for impersonating a lawyer and trying to dupe a Kuwaiti woman, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The suspect, identified as W.T., allegedly called the Kuwaiti woman, claiming that he works at the office of her lawyer and that he will come to get her signatures on some official papers and that she has to pay KD 200 for it. The woman, however, had doubts and decided to check with her female Kuwaiti lawyer and the latter denied having anyone by the suspect’s name working in her office.
The Kuwaiti lawyer then called the Egyptian and asked him how he procured the woman’s information, but he refused to talk to her.
Later, the woman and the lawyer filed a complaint at Rawda Police Station against the suspect.

‘Fruits’ of stolen ATM: Police are looking for an unidentified person who stole wallet belonging to a Lebanese man that contained an ATM card with the secret numbers, KD 45 cash, and identification papers, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A police source said the man filed a complaint in Fahaheel police station and reported the thief withdrew KD 900 from his account at the bank and purchased appliances worth KD 2,429 and other items worth KD 12,900 from a cooperative society.

Equipment stolen:  Lawyer at a major company in Kuwait lodged a complaint with officers in Mina Abdullah police station accusing a Kuwaiti employee at the company of stealing equipment worth  KD 25,000, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The theft was reportedly discovered while the annual inventory was being carried out.
