Filipina maid attempts suicide Drugs kill six Kuwaitis, 2 expats in Jan

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31: A 28-year-old Filipina housemaid tried to commit suicide by drinking pesticide in the house of her sponsor in Saad Al-Abdullah.
Securitymen and medical emergency personnel rushed to the house immediately after the Operations Room received information from the maid’s sponsor. The rescuers took the woman to Jahra Hospital and she is now confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as she is said to be in a serious condition.
A case was registered and the authorities have opened an investigation to determine the actual circumstances that prompted the woman to try to kill herself.

Phones stolen: A Kuwaiti filed a report at Andalus Police Station on the stealing of 13 mobile phones worth KD2,900 from his shop in Riqqae.
After receiving a call from the Kuwaiti, a team of police officers rushed to the shop to conduct investigations. The shop owner told the officers he was surprised to find the door broken when he was about to open it Monday morning. Fingerprints were lifted to identify the culprits.
A case was registered and investigations are continuing to arrest the thieves.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti man and a garage worker in Shuwaikh Industrial Area exchanged blows after a heated argument over the repair of the Kuwaiti’s vehicle. A case of beating one another was registered against them at Shuwaikh Police Station.

Drugs kill six Kuwaitis, 2 expats: Eight deaths due to drug overdose — six Kuwaitis and two expatriates — were registered in January, according to the monthly statistical report issued by the Criminal Evidence Department recently.
In a press statement Monday, the Media Department at the Interior Ministry advised the public to be wary of this social menace, especially the youth who are considered the future of the country. The department also appealed to the people to help the authorities to combat drug trafficking and to refrain from consuming drugs to save not only their lives but also that of others.
Meanwhile, police arrested two wanted men on Kabad Motorway and referred them to authorities for further action. Sources say police patrols noticed a vehicle with tinted glasses and asked the driver to pull over. The motorist, however, sped off, forcing patrols to give a chase. The motorist and his friend were eventually arrested and after checking records, the officers realized that the men had two cases registered against them.
In another development, a 19-year-old Bedoun sustained serious injuries on his back and shoulder during a fight he had with two other Bedouns staying in Sulaibiya area. Paramedics rushed the injured youth to Farwaniya Hospital, but the attackers had escaped by the time police arrived.
