Amiri grant to be deposited in bank accounts Feb 24

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25, (KUNA): The Amir’s grant will be deposited in the bank accounts of every Kuwaiti citizen over 21 years of age on February 24, the higher committee supervising disbursing of the Amiri grant announced Tuesday.
“The grant will be transferred to Kuwaitis’ bank accounts on time unless something comes up,” Director of Citizens’ Service and Government Bodies’ Assessment Agency Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said in a press conference held earlier at Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) headquarters.
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah ordered earlier this month a grant for every Kuwaiti citizen, KD 1,000 ($3,599) on the occasion of the national celebrations.
Government bodies concerned with the disbursement mechanism include the Ministry of Finance, the Central body for Information Technology, the Civil Service Commission and the Public Authority for Civil Information, Sheikh Mohammad noted.
“The grant marks Kuwait’s national celebrations; the 50th Independence Day, the 20th Liberation Anniversary and the fifth anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s accession to power,” he pointed out.
Urging all media to be accurate and objective when reporting any information related to the grant, Sheikh Mohammad said an internet site for all matters concerning the grant is in the making, as well as similar pages on Facebook and Twitter.
As for divorcees with children under 21 years of age, Sheikh Mohammad said whoever has legal custody will be the one receiving the grant on behalf of the children.
For his part, Undersecretary of the Civil Service Commission Mohammad Al-Roumi said “the Amiri grant will be deposited in citizens’ accounts once HH the Amir presses the button to transfer funds to banks.” As for Kuwaitis studying abroad, and under 21, Al-Roumi said their grants will be transferred to their parents’ accounts.
