Military man ‘robs’ taxi driver at knifepoint, tries to set taxi afire Asian held selling porn CDs
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 23: Police have arrested a Kuwaiti military man working for the Ministry of Defence for stealing KD 400 from an Egyptian taxi driver and trying to set fire to his vehicle, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the victim called the Operations Department of the Ministry of Interior after the suspect asked him to drive home but on the way pulled out a knife and under threat stole his money.
The suspect also tried to set fire to the vehicle. However, by the time police reached the spot the suspect had escaped from the scene.
Police searched the area, arrested the man and also found the stolen money on his person.
Kuwaiti found dead: The remains of a Kuwaiti man who is believed to be in his 50s has been referred to Forensics to identify the cause of death, reports Al-Rai daily.
The death was discovered by cops when they raided several apartments in Salmiya which were allegedly rented on short term basis and being used for prostitution.
During the search police found the corpse of the Kuwaiti.
Cologne drinker caught: Police have arrested an Asian man for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident in Salmiya, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily quoting security sources said the drunkard collided with the vehicle of another Asian and escaped on foot to evade police arrest.
However, the other motorist chased and arrested the man and handed him over to police.
During interrogation the drunkard admitted to drinking cologne.
Robbery in Salwa home: Police are looking for an unidentified person who allegedly broke into a home in Salwa and stole $20,000, KD 1,800 and £8,000. The theft occurred while the family was away, reports Al-Rai daily.
Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
TV anchor insults cop: A police officer has filed a complaint with the Abu Halifah Police Station accusing an unidentified anchor of a private satellite TV channel of refusing to stop at a police check point and insulting him while on duty, reports Al-Anba daily.
This happened when the officer asked the man to show his personal documents.
The anchor will be summoned for interrogation.
