Ex-hubby thief Asian dies in mishap, motorist surrenders
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 20: One person was killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents reported in the country Thursday.
A speeding vehicle ran over an Asian expatriate at the Doha intersection, killing him on the spot. His remains were referred to Forensics, while the Kuwaiti motorist surrendered himself to police. A case was registered.
In another accident, two youths, aged 17 and 20, suffered injuries when their vehicles collided with one another near the Sabah Hospital roundabout. They were referred to the hospital for treatment.
An Egyptian fractured his left arm and suffered injuries on the face in a two-vehicle collision in Hawalli area. He too was referred to Sabah Hospital.
Also, a 17-year-old Kuwaiti motorcyclist suffered head injuries when he fell off his bike on the Second Ring Road. He was referred to Amiri Hospital.
In a similar incident, another Kuwaiti motorcyclist, 25, suffered fractures and injuries when he fell from his bike on Arabian Gulf Street.
And two Pakistani expatriates were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Amghara scrap area. They were rushed to Jahra Hospital for treatment.
Lastly, a Filipina in her 30s suffered head injuries when she was knocked down by a speeding vehicle in Qortuba area. Paramedics rushed her to Amiri Hospital.
In other incidents, two male pedestrians — an Ethiopian and an Indian — were seriously injured when they were run over by an unidentified motorist in the vicinity of the Marina Mall, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily added following the accident five other cars were involved in a collision.
Without going into details, the daily said the victims have been referred to the Mubarak Al-Kabir Hospital.
A Kuwaiti youth escaped with minor injuries following a road accident at the First Ring Road intersection with the Cairo Street, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the youth lost control of his vehicle and when he hit the pavement and the car overturned.
The daily added the youth was trapped in his vehicle and he was rescued by paramedics.
Speeding was the cause of the accident.
Kuwaiti youth who sustained head injuries following a road accident on the Abdali Road has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Jahra Hospital, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports when the victim’s car overturned paramedics rushed to the spot and took the youth to the hospital.
Security sources said speeding was the cause of the accident.
In an unrelated development, acting on information firemen from the Al-Shuhada Fire Center rushed to Bneid Al-Gar and put out fire in the apartment of a residential building, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The daily quoting eyewitness reports said as a precautionary measure the firemen evacuated the residents, put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to other apartments.
The cause of the fire is not known.
Ex-hubby thief: A Kuwaiti woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, has filed a complaint with the police accusing her former husband of breaking into her home in Al-Qasr and stealing electronics, perfumes and jewelry, reports Al-Anba daily.
In her complaint the woman said she discovered the theft when she returned home after spending two days with her family.
The suspect got into the house through the window. She claims the man will sell the stolen items and spend the money on his new wife.
Car set alight: An arsonist set a vehicle on fire and escaped Thursday. Acting on information, firefighters rushed to the scene and doused the fire, while securitymen conducted preliminary investigations and found out that the vehicle was reported stolen last week. No injuries were reported but a case was registered.
