KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: Filipino Badminton Association in Ahmadi (FBAA) – one of the most recognized badminton organizations in the country – opened 2011 with “McDonalds 2 Day Open Tournament” at the Fahaheel Sports Center, Friday. FBAA – led by President Ronald Margate, who gets a lot of support from his committed group of office bearers – worked very hard in 2010 to provide a lot of opportunity through quality tournaments in 2010 for all the competing players and the way they have started off 2011 it seems that they are in the mood to do so this year. FBAA Technical Committee has decided that this tournament will be based on 6 teams divided into two clusters, each based on five categories: Men’s A, Men’s B, Men’s Higher C, Men’s Lower C and Ladies B and C with three players in each of them. Since there is limited time to complete the competition, the players in all the categories will be involved in a fight for a running score of 61 points. Meanwhile, another category – Mixed-D Teens – has been provided for the young players with matches to see competition for a running score of 31 points.

Men’s A
In Men’s Higher A, Team II scored a landslide victory over Team I after Sherwin Felizardo and Jyothish PG overcame Joenel Seva and Eduard Pascual 33-28, while Jyothish with Anthony Mendoza tamed Eduard and Gerry Labagnoy 34-27 and the tandem of Sherwin and Anthony overwhelmed Joenel and Gerry 35-26.
Team IV scored 3-1 win over Team III when Joms Tantiangco and Sunil Raj thumped Zahidul Islam and Rommel Carlos 36-25 while Forp “Da Flash” Alonzo and Sunil wasted no effort to beat Joshua Lagran and Rommel 41-20. Team III did not go home empty handed when Joshua and Zahidul put in the their best effort to outlast Forp and Joms by a single point victory 31-30.

Team V pulled off a landslide victory against Team VI through Gaurav Joshi and Philip Marimla as they brushed aside Jong Rimando and Ed Antonio 34-27, while Philip with Marvin de Luna hammered Ed and Tony Osea 39-22 and Gaurav with Marvin thrashed Jong and Tony – who did not appear to be in their best shoes– 44-17.
Team II achieved total victory against Team III when Sherwin and Jyothish tamed Joshua and Zahidul, Jyothish and Anthony crushed Zahidul and Rommel 40-21 and the tandem of Sherwin and Anthony outlasted Joshua and Rommel 32-29.
Team V scored a 2-1 win against Team IV after Gaurav and Philip brushed aside Forp and Joms 34-27, and Gaurav and Marvin crushed Forp and Sunil 40-21. The tandem of Joms and Sunil saved the day for Team IV but they were made to sweat for every point before they could edge Philip and Marvin 31-30.
There were mouth-watering matches between Team VI and Team I with Team VI winning 2-1 after Jong and Ed outlasted Joenel and Eduard 31-30 and Jong and Tony blended well on the courts to edge Joenel and Gerry 31-30. Eduard and Gerry pulled win for Team I when they outlasted Ed and Tony 31-30.

Team IV accomplished a 2-1 win against Team I as Forp and Joms overcame Joenel and Eduard 32-29 while Joms and Sunil overwhelmed Eduard and Gerry 34-27. The tandem of Joenel and Gerry saved the day for Team I when they outlasted Forp and Sunil 32-29.
Team V acquired a 2-1 win against Team II through Philip and Marvin who overcame Jyothish and Anthony 33-28 while Gaurav and Marvin were made to sweat to edge Sherwin and Anthony 31-30. Team II scored through Sherwin and Jyothish when they outlasted Gaurav and Philip 32-29.
Team VI completed a 2-1 win against Team III after Jong and Ed overwhelmed Joshua and Zahidul while one of the matches was won by default. Team III bounced back through Joshua and Rommel when they thumped Jong and Tony 36-25.

Men’s B
In Men’s B, Team I pulled off a total victory against Team II as Janette Rimando and Anthony Valdez crushed Kevin Yap and Cesar Isidro 38-23 while Anthony with Roma Valdez outlasted Cesar and Annie Blouin 32-29 and Janette with Roma overwhelmed Kevin and Annie 34-27.
Team IV acquired a 2-1 win over Team III after Gene Aniversario and Arnold Miclat overcame Joshua Aniversario and Robert Gubat 33-28 while Arnold and Aldrin Turalde hammered Robert and Aileen Perez 37-24. The tandem of Joshua and Aileen saved the day for Team III when they outlasted Gene and Aldrin 32-29.
Team V accomplished a 2-1 win against team VI as Ryan Aguilar and Pio Escuzar overwhelmed Maricel Romano and Adrian Simeon 41-20 while Ryan and Joel Marasigan edged Maricel and Roy Francisco 31-30. Team VI scored through Adrian and Roy when they overcame Pio and Joel 34-27.

Team VII gathered a 2-1 win over Team VIII after Arnie Miguel and Hans Ita-as edged Roman Malabanan and Raymond Albay 31-30 while Mark Zalavaria and Hans outlasted Mokbul Hussain and Raymond 31-30. The tandem of Mokbul and Roman saved the day for Team VIII when they edged Mark and Arnie 31-30.
Team II completed a 2-1 win against Team III when Kevin and and Cesar outlasted Joshua and Robert 32-29, and Kevin and Annie edged Joshua and Aileen 31-30. Team III scored through Robert and Aileen when they overcame Cesar and Annie 33-28.
Team I pulled together a 2-1 win over Team IV after Anthony and Roma hammered Arnold and Aldrin 35-26 while Janette and Roma overcame Gene and Aldrin 34-27. Team IV did not go home empty handed when the tandem of Gene and Arnold brushed aside Janette and Anthony 34-27.
Team VII collected a landslide victory over Team VI as Mark and Arnie tamed Maricel and Adrian 35-26 while Arnie and Hans thrashed Adrian and Roy 38-23 and the pair of Mark and Hans overpowered Maricel and Roy 37-24.
Team V pulled off a total victory against Team VIII when Ryan and Pio outlasted Mokbul and Roman 32-29, Pio and Joel thumped Roman and Raymond 36-25 and Ryan with Joel overwhelmed Mokbul and Raymond 34-27.

Team I completed a 2-1 win against Team III after Janette and Anthony brushed aside Joshua and Robert 36-25 while Anthony and Roma overcame Robert and Aileen 33-28. Team III did not go home empty when Joshua and Aileen tamed Janette and Roma 33-28.
Team II achieved a 2-1 win against Team IV after Kevin and Cesar outlasted Gene and Arnold 32-29 and Cesar and Annie overcame Arnold and Aldrin 33-28. The tandem of Gene and Aldrin edged Kevin and Annie 31-30 to score one victory for Team IV.
Team V tied with 1 win against Team VII with one game pending and scheduled to be played next week. Team V scored through Ryan and Pio when they overcame Mark and Arnie 33-28 while Team VII bounced back through Arnie and Hans as they brushed aside Pio and Joel 33-28.
Team VII were in form when they gathered a 2-1 win over Team VI with Mokbul and Roman taming Maricel and Adrian 35-26 while Mokbul and Raymond overwhelmed Maricel and Roy 37-24. Team VI did not go home empty handed when Adrian and Roy overpowered Roman and Raymond 35-26.

Men’s Higher C
In Men’s Higher C, Team II scored a 2-1 win against Team I after JR Briones and Glen Piliotas brushed aside Prasanth Kavalangad and Dodie El Din 35-26 and Glen and Ness Aguilar overwhelmed Dodie and Jun Gonzales 34-27. The tandem of Prasanth and Jun saved the day for Team I when they thumped JR and Ness 38-23.
Team III pulled together a total victory against Team IV as Alvin Godoy and Edwin Manzano thrashed Benedict Garcia and Jeanette Tantiangco 37-24, Edwin and Rochelle Carlos brushed aside Jeanette and Jean Blouin 36-25 and Alvin with Rochelle hammered Benedict and Jean 38-23.
Team V compiled a 2-1 win against Team VI when Nihar Esmula and Amir Khan crushed Lorelie Seva and Joel Jimenez 39-22 and James Blaz and Amir outlasted Victor Toledo and Joel 31-30. Team VI scored through Victor and Lorelie when they outlasted James and Nihar 32-29.
Team VIII gathered a landslide victory against Team VII when Eric Farthing and Mohammad Shabaz overcame Mamoun Askar and Sonal Mashankar 33-28, Mohammad with Grande Agao edged Sonal and Freddie Ocampo 31-30 and the tandem of Eric and Grande brushed aside Mamoun and Freddie 33-28.
Team III gained a 2-1 win against Team II after Edwin and Rochelle edged Glen and Ness 32-29 and Alvin and Rochelle outlasted JR and Ness 32-29. Team II was saved by the pair of JR and Glen when they hammered Alvin and Edwin 38-23.

Team I were in their best shoes when they collected a landslide victory against Team IV driven by Prasanth and Dodie who thrashed Benedict and Jeanette 42-19 while Dodie and Jun overwhelmed Jeanette and Jean 37-24 and the tandem of Prasanth and Jun tamed Benedict and Jean 34-27.
Team VII compiled a total victory against Team VI with Mamoun and Sonal outlasting Victor and Lorelie 32-29, while Sonal and Freddie crushed Lorelie and Jean 40-21 and Mamoun with Freddie outlasted Victor and Jean 32-29.
Team V pulled off a total victory against Team VIII as James and Nihar overcame Eric and Mohammad 34-27 while Nihar and Amir thrashed Mohammad and Noel 43-18 and the tandem of James and Amir tamed Eric and Noel 33-28.
Team I completed a 2-1 win against Team III when Prasanth and Dodie thumped Alvin and Edwin 37-24, and Prasanth and Jun edged Alvin and Rochelle 31-30. Team III did not go home empty handed when Edwin and Rochelle overcame Dodie and Jun 34-27.

Team II achieved a landslide victory against Team IV driven by JR and Glen who thrashed Benedict and Jeanette 43-18 while Glen and Ness crushed Jeanette and Jean 39-22 and the tandem of JR and Ness hammered Benedict and Jean 36-25.
Team VII generated a 2-1 win against Team V when Mamoun and Sonal overpowered James and Nihar 39-22 while Sonal and Freddie thumped Nihar and Amir 38-23. James and Amir saved the day for Team V when they outlasted Mamoun and Freddie 32-29.
Team VIII accomplished a 2-1 win against Team VI after Eric and Mohammad tamed Victor and Lorelie 35-26 while Mohammad and Noel thumped Lorelie and Joel 36-25. Team VI scored through Victor and Joel when they overwhelmed Eric and Noel 35-26.

Men’s Lower C
In Men’s Lower C, Team I scored a 2-1 win against Team II as Gerry Torio and Marvin Abalos thrashed Grande Agao and Gemma Urip 44-17 while Kesha Ng and Marvin blended well on the courts and tamed Elmer Rivera and Gemma 37-24. Team II scored through Elmer and Grande when they brushed aside Kesha and Gerry 36-25.

Team III gained a 2-1 win against Team IV after Marlon Villanueva and Danilo Basco overcame Jeremy Linguist and Jerry Tan 33-28 and Marlon with Jane Chua edge Jeremy and Irwin Climaco 31-30. Team IV did not go home empty handed when the tandem of Jerry and Irwin outlasted Danilo and Jane 31-30.
Team I pulled off a landslide victory against Team V when Kesha and Gerry outlasted Ell Parado and Ildon Galvez 32-29, Gerry and Marvin overcame Ildon and Erwin Buela 34-27 and the tandem of Kesha and Marvin tamed Ell and Erwin 34-27.
Team VII accomplished total victory against Team VI as JD Omara and PJ Cajipe overwhelmed Cris Castilla and Jay Parantar 36-25, PJ and April Fernandez outlasted Jay and Nelson Bendiez 32-29 and the tandem of JD and April thrashed Cris and Nelson 42-19.

Team VIII gathered a 2-1 win against Team IX through Abi Sedik and Ato Mondihar who crushed Bill Smith and Kristine Novino 44-17 while Ato with Jellica Espinosa overwhelmed Kristine and Allan Andrew 36-25. Team IX were saved by the pair of Bill and Allan when they hammered Abi and Jellica 36-25.
Team X acquired a 2-1 win against Team VI when Jason Hubal and Modesto Unida outlasted Jay and Nelson 33-28, and Elsie San Juan and Modesto brushed aside Cris and Nelson 36-25. Team VI did not go home empty handed when Cris and Jay worked well on the courts to edge Elsie and Jason 32-29.
Team II completed a landslide victory against Team III when Elmer and Grande tamed Marlon and Danilo 36-25 while Grande and Gemma thumped Danilo and Jane 36-25 and the pair of Elmer and Gemma outlasted Marlon and Jane 32-29.

Team IV scored a 2-1 win against Team V as Jeremy and Jerry edged Ell and Ildon 31-30 while Jerry and Irwin outlasted Ildon and Erwin 31-30. Team V scored through Ell and Erwin when they brushed aside Jeremy and Irwin 37-24.
Team VIII scored a total victory against Team VII through Abi and Ato who thumped JD and PJ 37-24, Ato and Jellica wasted no effort to beat PJ and April 41-20 and the tandem of Abi and Jellica thrashed JD and April 46-15.
Team X achieved a 2-1 win against Team IX after Jason and Modesto outlasted Kristine and Allan 32-29 while Elsie and Modesto tamed Bill and Allan 35-26. Team IX won through Bill and Kristine when they brushed aside Elsie and Jason 34-27.
