KUCCS to deal with price increase of commodities Adasani cites violations by co-ops union
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15, (Agencies): Chair-man of Kuwait Union of Consumer Coop-erative Societies (KUCCS) Dr Hussein Mjbl Al-Duehis affirmed Saturday that the union would be working on measures to face the hike of commodities’ prices.
Speaking to KUNA, the official said that all products with the KUCCS print on it would be sold within the same price rates despite indications that commodities’ prices would increase.
Negotiations are continuing with manufactures and food producers to find a middle ground that would be just for both producers and consumers, stated the official, affirming that steps taken by the ministries of Commerce and Social Affairs to allow marketing festivals to be held all year around would help in decreasing the prices of products.
Prices in Kuwait, compared to the GCC region, are relatively lower, said Al-Duehis, revealing that KUCCS would contribute around 15% to the family support fund, established by the Ministry of Commerce, as a step in keeping prices at bay.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Nuzha Cooperative Society Riyadh Al-Adasani has warned of imminent skyrocketing prices of commodities due to steady violations in the Union of Cooperative Societies and alleged conspiracy with some companies and intermediaries at the expense of consumers and shareholders, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Adasani affirmed he has documented evidence and copies of invoice to prove that some traders play with prices and falsify the actual prices of certain commodities.
He said some members of the union benefit from free traveling ticket offers from those companies.
He justified his resignation from the Prices Unification Committee of the Union of Cooperative Societies. He explained the resignation was borne out of violation of regulations and determination by the union to deal with traders who were fond of monopolizing commodities.
