World Class, Indian Strikers rule PBAK Tenpin Bowling League elimination round KUWAIT CITY, Jan 11: Regaining the form they displayed at the start of the elimination round of the 2011 PBAK-Cozmo-Western Union-Al Muzaini Exchange 7th Conference Tenpin Bowling League being held at the Cozmo Bowling Center in Khaifan, the king pins of World Class have inched their way back to second place in the standings after their convincing annihilation of the entertainment magnates of Cozmo-1. Sharing the 13th week limelight with World Class were the spicy keglers of the Indian Strikers who bagged the Team of the Week Award by turning in the highest scratch plus handicap score in their upset win over one of the front runners Siete Pares. The week also saw Xpress Rollers, LEAF and Al Ahli Bank dishing out noteworthy performance with the rest of the teams submitting relatively low scores in their respective scheduled match.
After dominating the leader board in the first three weeks of the league, World Class lost their tenacity in the succeeding weeks and steadily slipped down in the standings. One of the few teams who hold practice sessions, World Class rediscovered their winning form in the past few weeks and is now just a few pin falls away from current front runner K2E2. With its 3035-2785 rout of Cozmo-1, World Class continued their journey back to the top and a place in the championship round. Spearheaded by the David Banks, Mousa Abdullah, Bill Stiles, Lee Mills, Carol Awadi and Gina Ashley World Class blanked Cozmo-1 three games to none via 974-940, 1003-932 and 1033-913 game victories. Bowling for the lane masters of Cozmo-1 in this match were Aga Cuadrazal, Aldin Avila, Anna Valenzuela, Wilmer Linga and Roy Pineda.
Meanwhile, the sizzling pin busters of the Indian Strikers clinched their second Team of Week Award after posting a stunning 3029-2824 upset win over the currently fourth ranked Siete Pares squad. Like a smoking hot red chili pepper, the Indian Strikers quintet of Colin Costa, Nelson D’ Souza, Fatima Sequiera, Lloyd Fernandes and Lloyd D’ Souza broke loose from the tightly contested opening game and booked a scintillating 1031-953 victory over the highly touted Siete Pares pin breakers. In game two, the Indian pin busters bowled like there is no tomorrow crushing their opponents with a lopsided 1089-886 win. With the Indian Strikers way out in front 2120-1839 after two games, Egay Cabildo, Faie Reyel, Rico Galang, Ramon Mesina and Nitz Alinea saved Siete Pares from further humiliation by grabbing a 985-884 decision in the final game of the match. Another team enjoying a good winning run was the pin masters of Xpress Rollers who bolstered their final round hope after emerging victorious from an exciting match against Frost Real Estate. In this spine tingling encounter, the Rollers took the early lead through a 1030-910 win in game one of the 3-games series match. However, the real estate magnates of Frost did not take this lightly and regrouped in game two. Bannered by the quintet of Rey Galvez, Rico Baluyot, Obet Cabrera, Michelle Avila and Mar Evangelista, Frost Real Estate grabbed the upper hand 1959-1902 after routing their rivals 1049-872. With the outcome of the match on line, the two teams traded strikers and spares in game three where the Xpress Rollers crew of Caloy Garay, Joe Simmons, Ric Bellen, Carmen Toliver and Hermi Saliba succeeded in overhauling the 6-mark advantage of Frost Real Estate via a 942-881 winning margin. The match ended in a close 2869-2840 victory for Xpress Rollers.
Cozmo-2 on the other hand snapped their losing streak by beating the sound specialists of BOSE 2956-2846. In eking out this all important win, the Cozmo five some composed of Fahad Abul, Farouque, Jhun Hosmillo, Ronnel Valencia and Jackie Guitang silenced BOSE in games one and two 982-909 and 1049-937. In the closing game of the match, BOSE finally tuned in to the right frequency and defeated Cozmo-2 1000-900 that was made possible by Pilar Villanueva, Rod Dulay, Joel Tizon, Sam Behbehani and Eddie Pena. On a comeback trail after a slow start, Al Ahli Bank posted another victory this time at the expense of Western Union Money Transfer. The bankers headed by Mishary Fadhli, Fadel Qassem, Mona Sadeq, Trevor Bush and Ali Al Baghli notched their 2886-2810 victory by subduing the remittance experts in the first two games of the match 974-879 and 1000-901. Although already shut out of the match, Al Belarmino, Bobby Ferrera, Romy Ramirez, Jane Nance and Tito Tamayo nevertheless bowled all out and handed Western Union a 1030-887 win in game three. In the other completed matches of the week, league leader K2E2 turned back Megaworld 2817-2733, the Swooping Eagles grounded Emirates Airlines 2698-2648, Air Safari subdued Nusantara 2658-2557, Sahara defeated the Raging Bols 2683-2580, Klasmeyts Al Khada Kana out classed D’ Islanders 2801-2733 and LEAF who drew the week’s bye garnered 2956 pin falls.
