Kuwaiti caught for sheltering, selling maids in Hawalli flat ‘I wanna go home’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 9: A Kuwaiti citizen was apprehended for trafficking in maids and selling them between KD 300 and KD 500.
Sources said the man was arrested inside an apartment in Hawalli, where he kept the maids for sale. Five of the maids were set free after security operatives raided the apartment.  This follows a tip-off the officers received about activities of the suspect.
 According to sources, the suspect owned a recruitment agency in Hawalli, which has currently been closed based on several complaints the concerned authority received in that regard. The maids confirmed that the suspect took advantage of them and forced them to carry out illicit activities. Some of the maids have been referred for further investigation.

‘I wanna go home’: The Airport police have arrested an unidentified Asian man for attempting to escape from the country, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the suspect arrived at the airport at 9:00 am and he was seen loitering in the departure area.
He finally entered the restricted area and told one of the workers that he wanted to travel to his home country.
When asked about the passport and ticket, he claimed he lost his passport. However, when police were informed he tried in vain to escape.
He has been referred to the authorities.

Filipina hurt fleeing: A Filipino maid, who allegedly fell from the fourth floor of a residential building in Fintas has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Adan Hospital, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to reports the woman was locked inside the apartment and when she tried to escape by climbing down, she reportedly lost balance and fell.
The daily did not say if she was held captive by her sponsor or unidentified people.
