Police arrest 21 maids working as ‘cleaners’ in govt schools

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: The Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested 21 Asian women for violating residence laws, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to reports most of those arrested are holding domestic residence and working for government schools as cleaning workers.
Sources said the suspects were arrested when they waited for a bus to pick them to take to work.
There were 30 women and of them 21 were holding domestic residence which forbids them to work for establishments as per the law.
They have been referred to the concerned authorities.

Maids sheltered: The Mubarak Al-Kabir police have arrested an unidentified Asian man for possessing hashish and sheltering four runaway maids, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily quoting security sources police acting on information raided the apartment of the suspect and arrested him.
They searched the apartment and found four women who were wanted by law for absconding from their sponsors. Police also found hashish hidden in one of the apartments.
The man has been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control and the women to the concerned authorities.

Gamblers nabbed: The Jahra police have arrested nine Asians for gambling in Murgab
. Police are also said to have seized from them KD 600, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the gamblers were picked up from the room of the guard of a commercial complex. All those arrested have been referred to the deportation center.

Duo held with liquor: Police have arrested two Kuwaitis for possessing four bottles of booze — three bottles of Red Label whisky and one bottle of locally-manufactured wine, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports the suspects were initially arrested for reckless driving and when ordered them to stop they appeared drunk. One of the men is allegedly wanted by law in connection with financial and criminal cases. They were arrested in a suburb of Al-Andalus.

Friend suspected: Police have summoned for interrogation an unidentified ex-convict for allegedly setting fire to the car of his friend, reports Al-Rai daily.
In his complaint to the police the friend said the suspect and he had problems and he strongly suspects the youth of setting fire to his car. The incident happened in Mubarak Al-Kabir.
