Deportation for ‘wayward’ expat revellers

KUWAIT, Dec 29, (KUNA): Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Maj Gen Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah said that he instructed criminal investigation and drug control departments to set out a security plan for New Year’s Eve.

Al-Sabah told the press here on Wednesday that concerned departments would take all measures to ensure the maintenance of public order and prevent law-violations that are contrary to public morals and manners in Kuwait.

He said that specialized teams will be in charge of the camping areas, stables, villas and chalets as well as other areas that might involve unwanted behaviors.

Detectives will be deployed for New Year’s Eve, stressing that any foreigner (male or female) caught at suspicious places will be deported immediately, he added.

Asian held with drugs: An Asian expatriate was arrested by security operatives with 5 fingers of hashish and 7 bottles of imported liquor in Jleeb Shuyoukh area.
Sources said securitymen acted on information they received about his activities, and they discovered the contraband after raiding his apartment in the same area. He was refer red to the relevant authority for necessary action.

Drunkard arrested: An Asian man was found unconscious by the road side in Fahaheel area due to excessive alcohol consumption. Rescue officers arrived at the scene when the Operations Room received a report about an unconscious man lying by the roadside. However, they noticed he was heavily intoxicated, and he has since been detained for interrogation.

18 stunt drivers held: The Ahmadi police during a crackdown on reckless motorists are said to have arrested 18 youths for endangering the lives of other road users, impounded their vehicles and referred them to the authorities, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. This happened between Mina Abdullah and Wafra.

Kuwaiti dies, 14 hurt in various accidents: A 45-year-old Kuwaiti citizen died when two vehicles collided on Wafra Motorway.
Acting on information, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location, and Criminal Evidences Men carried the corpse to Forensics for autopsy.
An Asian expatriate in his 30s was knocked down in Ahmadi, resulting in severe injury and additional fractures all over the body. He was referred to the Adan hospital for medical care.
In another incident, a Kuwaiti biker sustained serious injury when he smashed the motorbike he was riding into another vehicle in Ardiya area. Paramedics were prompt to the location and they referred him to the Farwaniya hospital for medical care.
Meanwhile, an Egyptian in his early 40s was injured in various places of the body during a traffic collision between two vehicles in Jahra Governorate. Paramedics were on hand to carry the injured man to Jahra hospital.
And, another Egyptian in his 30s was knocked down and injured by a speeding motorist in Hawalli. He is receiving treatment in Mubarak Hospital.
Two vehicles collided on Fifth Ring Road, opposite Riqqae area, resulting in severe injuries to 6 Kuwaiti citizens and an Indian expatriate. Three of the injured citizens were sent to Farwaniya Hospital in private cars, while the other were carried by paramedics.
In yet another incident, a 22-year-old citizen sustained several injuries when his car collided with another car on the Fourth Ring Road. Paramedics conveyed the citizen to the Sabah Hopsital for medical care. A New Zealander was injured in various places of his body when he was it by a motorist in Salmiya area. He is receiving treatment in Mubarak Hospital.  And a Bangladeshi in his twenties was seriously injured when his bike collided with a car in Jahra. He was shifted to Jahra Hospital by paramedics.

Cash stolen from car:
Police are looking for an unidentified person for stealing KD 600 from the car of an unidentified Egyptian mandoub, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
A police source said the Egyptian has filed a complaint with the Taima Police Station.
In his complaint he said a burglar broke the side glass of his car and stole KD 600 which belongs to the company. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit.
