Arab Woman beats Asian; Asian gets death term
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: A Misdemeanor Court, presided over by Justice Hamoud Al-Mutawa, sentenced an Asian expatriate to death for kidnapping, raping and forcing an Asian woman into prostitution.
Case papers accused the defendant of tricking the woman, kidnapping and raping her by force. He also forced her into prostitution in an apartment while he collected the payment from the clients, after which he sold her to another person for the same trade.
Woman beats Asian: An Asian man, whose identity has not been disclosed, has filed a complaint with the Hawalli Police Station accusing an Arab woman of insulting and beating him in public on the Arabian Gulf Street, reports Al-Rai daily.
The complainant said the woman was with an Arab man in a car and gave police the number plate of the car and also submitted a medical report to substantiate his claim.
Police checked the records and summoned the owner of the car who admitted to the charge and said he was driving along the Arabian Gulf Street when the Asian argued with him and started to verbally abuse his wife.
The Arab man added his wife lost composure when the Asian spat on her face and used martial arts techniques because he is a champion in karate and holder of black belt.
The Arab man then filed a complaint against the Asian for insulting him and the Asian filed a complaint against the woman accusing her of assaulting him.
‘Pay fee’: The Court of Appeals ordered payment of KD500,000 to an expatriate swindled by two men, who rented his trailer without paying the corresponding fee.
The court then sentenced the defendants to two years in jail for fraud.
Case files indicate the expatriate sued the two men for their failure to pay for a trailer they had rented from him. He also accused them of misusing the trailer. A lower court had previously dismissed the case on grounds that the plaintiff violated Article 33 of the Constitution, which allows an expatriate to put up his own business provided he has a Kuwaiti partner who owns 51 percent of the shares.
The plaintiff’s lawyer appealed the ruling, arguing that the violation does not deprive his client of his right to demand compensation if a customer fails to meet his financial obligations and cause damages to the expatriate’s property.
The session was presided over by Judge Ayman Khalid Al-Ruwaishid.
Comp for expat: The Cassation Court has ordered the Ministry of Finance to pay KD 10,000 compensation to an expatriate whose son died in a road accident.
Case files indicate the expatriate’s son died when a speeding vehicle knocked him down. Attorney Ali Al-Wawan, the expatriate’s lawyer, asked the ministry to grant ‘blood money’ to the expatriate for the death of his son, in accordance with the Islamic Sharia.
Al-Wawan argued in court that the law mandates the ministry to pay blood money to the family of any expatriate who dies in a traffic accident due to the recklessness of other motorists. The court then ruled in favor of his client.
