Number of tribe sheikhs reaffirm their loyalty to Amir ‘Grilling request against the PM not justified’
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: A number of tribe sheikhs reaffirmed their loyalty to HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and the ruling family, while vowing to strictly comply with the directives of the Amir, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting sources.
Sources said the sheikhs made the statement in an Al-Watan TV program recently. They appealed to the lawmakers and Cabinet members to coordinate their efforts to work for the common good of the country. They also stressed the need to protect the nation from those keen on escalating tension and making a mountain out of a molehill.
Expressing their disappointment over some television channels which instigate conflicts over the dual citizenship issue, the sheikhs stressed the importance of national unity and equality among Kuwaitis in terms of their duties and rights. They also unanimously agreed that grilling is the constitutional right of lawmakers, but the interpellation request against HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah is not justified. They added Sheikh Nasser is one of the best prime minister’s in the history of Kuwait.
“What some MPs did when they took to the streets after failing to convince their colleagues is unethical. We should activate the role of the conservatives and judiciary. Unjustified demonstrations do not serve the country and instigate chaos in the country, especially since some tribal MPs represent only themselves and work for personal interests,” the sheikhs added.
