KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: The rate of obesity in Kuwait has reached 80 percent, Al-Qabas daily quoted Consultant of General Surgery at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital and Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University Dr Mosa’a Khurshid as saying.
Khurshid was speaking at the 9th Kuwait Annual Conference of Surgeons which was held during Dec 18-20 at the Crystal Hall in Sheraton Hotel.
The conference focused on laparoscopic and oncology surgeries, and endocrine and neurological diseases.
The aim of the conference was to provide latest scientific information to participants and give them the opportunity to hold fruitful discussions with well-known consultants and doctors from North America, United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East.
Khurshid praised a Kuwaiti group working on cancers and the valuable contribution it made in organizing the first scientific session in this part of the world.
He added that the main objective of the conference is to provide an opportunity for surgeons in Kuwait to learn about latest developments and scientific innovations in the field of diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
