Police probe 2 expats in death of housemaid Pakistani held in drug trafficking
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: Police have detained two expatriates for interrogation following the death of an Asian housemaid, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to reports the sponsor had filed ‘absconding’ report on the maid one week before her death.
The daily added two expatriates took the woman to the embassy of her country and she reportedly died a short time later.
The embassy officials have told the Ministry of Interior two men brought the maid to the embassy in critical condition. The embassy also said the maid was unconscious when she arrived at the embassy.
Paramedics rushed to the embassy but failed to rescue the maid.
During interrogation the expatriates said they saw the maid at an unidentified location in Hawalli and when they approached her and asked her what was wrong with her, she reportedly requested them to take her to the embassy.
Pakistani in drug trafficking: Securitymen arrested a Pakistani expatriate for trading in drugs and recovered 200 grams of narcotics from his house in Hawalli area.
Sources say when the Anti-drug Department received information about the activities of the Pakistani, it sent undercover agents to buy drugs from the suspect. But the plan failed. The department then acquired permission from the Public Prosecution and raided his house. Police found 200 packets containing one gram narcotic substance each in the house and arrested the trafficker. The Pakistani said he was working on behalf of Central Jail inmate. He was referred to Public Prosecution along with the contraband.
Drugs found with official: Customs officers at the Al-Nuwaiseeb border post have arrested a Kuwaiti working at the same post for attempting to smuggle narcotic pills into the country, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to reports the man arrived from Saudi Arabia. At the border post the man started wishing his colleagues and one of the inspectors became suspicious because of his overacting. He was referred to a check and police found in his car 150 narcotic pills. He has been referred to the authorities.
