Bloc slams govt inaction Draft bill to amend loopholes in Article 30 of AB law KUWAIT CITY, Dec 8: Members of the Constitution Bloc will meet at the beginning of next week to discuss the steps that should be taken against the government, which they blamed for the postponement of three parliamentary sessions, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei.
According to the lawmaker, the lawyers for MP Faisal Al-Muslim will notify the government on the unconstitutionality of the request to lift the latter’s immunity, which was submitted to the National Assembly, immediately after the automatic lifting of his immunity. He believes the government, which has suspended the parliamentary proceedings for 50 days, does not want development or the nation’s good.
Al-Tabtabaei admitted the Development and Reform Bloc is not interested in grilling HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad alone, as it is currently looking for other ways to hold the government liable.
Meanwhile, MP Mubarak Al-Waalan contended the suspension of the legislative activities is a deliberate step towards emptying the Constitution of its contents and taking revenge on the lawmaker due to his political stand inside the Parliament.
Meanwhile, MP Yousef Al-Zalzalah has proposed a draft law to amend the loopholes in Article 30 of the 1964 law regarding the establishment of the Audit Bureau, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
He said the existing law has been in practice for 41 years and that some articles in it have proved inadequate over time.
Al-Zalzalah suggested henceforth, the maximum monthly salary shouldn’t exceed KD 2,750 and that the head of the Bureau should be appointed by a decree for a five-year tenure subject for renewal of the contract.
He also proposed that the head of the Bureau must send reports containing observations, violations and correctional methods to the Speaker of the National Assembly within two months after the Ministry of Finance notify it of the outcome of review activities.
He added undersecretaries and assistant undersecretaries should be appointed by a decree for a renewable tenure of 4 years. They should be nominated by the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers.
