Hankook Tires-Black bag Men’s A crown Ita-as clinches Mixed-D Teens title KUWAIT CITY, Dec 6: Hankook Tires-Black players put on an excellent exhibition of power, stamina, determination and skills to capture the 18th Conference of Filipino Badminton Association in Ahmadi (FBAA) 4th Hankook Tires Cup crown at the Fahaheel Sports Center Friday.
Men’s A
In Men’s A, Hankook Tires were represented by the Black Team, Worley Parsons Resources & Energy (Blue ) and SK Engineering & Construction (Red).
Black reigned in the highest category when they scored a 4-2 win and 10-8 points against Blue after Sherwin Felizardo and Ed Antonio were made to sweat for every point before they could edge Albert Marcelo and Nikka Mae Roda 16-14, 13-15, 15-13, while Emil Millanar and Eduard Pascual overcame JP Parayno and Sunil Raj 17-15, 15-8, Sherwin with Marvin de Luna tamed Albert and Tony Osea 17-15, 15-6 and the tandem of Emil and Eduard outlasted JP and Sunil 12-15, 17-15, 15-12.
Blue, who walked home with the 1st runners-up award, won through the pair of Francis Enriquez and Tony who overcame Zahid Islam and Marvin 16-14, 15-13 while Nikka Mae with Francis thumped Zahid and Emil 15-13, 15-12.
Earlier in the semi-finals Black almost completed a landslide victory against Red when they took the matches 5-1 and collected 14-4 points after Sherwin and Ed tamed Joenel Seva and Joshua Lagran 15-5, 15-13, Zahid and Marvin outlasted Jyothish PG and Mike Florendo 11-15, 16-14, 15-8, Emil and Eduard overcame Ron Margate and Gerry Labagnoy 17-15, 15-10, Ed and Emil edged Joshua and Ron 12-15, 16-14, 15-12 and the tandem of Zahid and Eduard overwhelmed Jyothish and Gerry 15-12, 15-13.
Red team did not go home empty handed when they scored through Joenel and Mike who edged Sherwin and Marvin 15-11, 14-16, 15-8.
Men’s B
In Men’s B, the teams were Hankook Tires (Black), SK Engineering & Construction two teams (Red & Purple), Worley Parsons Resources & Energy two teams (Green & Blue) and Western Union Money Transfer two teams (Yellow & Orange).
Red acquired the crown in Men’s B when they tied on 2 wins with Black but scored 7-5 points through Arnel Lara and Cesar Isidro who hammered Rio Ferrer and Tim Torres 15-9, 15-4 while Kevin Yap and Maricel Romano edged Karlo Petines and Aileen Perez in a seesaw battle 15-8, 12-15, 15-13.
Black bounced back through Rio and Karlo as they edged Arnel and Kevin 5-15, 15-12, 15-9, while Tim and Aileen defeated Cesar and Maricel 16-18, 15-7, 15-13.
Earlier in the semi finals, Red tied with Blue as both got 2 wins but Red collected 8-4 points after Arnel and Kevin overwhelmed Gene Aniversario and Arnie Manuel 15-11, 15-5 while Arnel and Cesar thumped Gene and Roy Francisco 15-12, 15-11.
Blue won through Roy Francisco and Alyssa Tagate when they outlasted Cesar and Maricel 15-10, 10-15, 17-15 while Arnie Manuel and Alyssa edged Kevin and Maricel 15-12, 8-15, 15-12.
Black completed a total victory against Yellow in the semi finals as Rio and Karlo thrashed Ryan Aguilar and Marlad Aman 15-2, 15-9, while Tim and Aileen thumped Friday and Hans 15-9, 15-12, Rio and Tim tamed Ryan and Friday 15-12, 15-4 and the tandem of Karlo and Aileen overpowered Marlad and Hans 15-8, 15-9.
Men’s C
In Men’s C, Hankook Tires had two teams (Green & Blue), Western Union
Money Transfer (Red), Worley Parsons Resources & Energy two teams (Purple & Orange) and SK Engineering & Construction two teams Yellow & Black).
Green clinched the title in Men’s C when they acquired a 3-1 win and 7-5 points against Yellow after Melissa Al-Bannay and Victor Toledo brushed aside Lorelie Seva and Anthony Petrache while Glenn Pilotas and Victor outlasted Alvin Godoy and Lorelie 9-15, 15-13, 15-13 and the pair of Edwin Manzano and Victor edged Dr. Anant Mashankar and Anthony 7-15, 18-16, 15-8.
Yellow were saved by the pair of Alvin and Dr. Anant when they overcame Glenn and Edwin in 2 extended sets 15-12, 19-17 that handed them the 1st runners-up award.
Earlier in the semi final, Green gained a 3-1 win and 7-5 points against Red through Glenn and Edwin who edged Raymond Albay and Dodie El Din 17-19, 15-8, 15-13 while Melissa and Victor outlasted Jun Gonzales and Roger Estinoz 13-15, 15-13, 17-15 and the tandem of Edwin and Victor hammered Dodie and Roger in back to back sets 15-9, 15-9.
Red scored when Raymond and Jun thumped Glenn and Melissa 15-10, 15-8.
Yellow moved into the semis when they scored a 3-1 win and 7-5 points against Purple as Loreli and Anthony overpowered Glorence Montesclaros and Franklin Monstesclaros 15-11, 15-9 while Alvin and Lorelie edged JR Briones and Glorence 19-17, 14-16, 15-12 and Dr Anant and Anthony outlasted Gordon Astorga and Franklin 15-13, 12-15, 15-6.
Mixed C
In Mixed C, there were four teams :Hankook Tires (Blue), Worley Parsons
Resources & Energy (Black), SK Engineering & Construction (Red) and
Western Union Money Transfer (Green).
Blue collected the crown in the Mixed C event when they gathered a 3-1 win and 9-3 points against Black as Tony Liow and Amir Khan thrashed Ell Parado and Martin Vidal 15-8, 15-7 while Amir and Chris Castilla thumped Dodong Bagao and Marge El Din 15-7, 15-12 and the tandem of Tony and Amir wasted no effort to crush Ell and Dodong 15-7, 15-3. Black team walked home as 1st runners-up after winning a single game by default.
Earlier in the semi finals Blue claimed a 3-1 win and 9-3 points against Green team after Tony and Chris overpowered Bill Smith and Marlon Villanueva 15-10, 15-9, Amir and Chris thumped Glenn Perea and Tanette Tuliao 15-7, 15-6 and the tandem of Tony and Amir hammered Bill and Glenn in back to back sets 15-7, 15-7. Green team won one game by default.
Black scored a 3-1 win and 10-2 points against Red in the semi finals driven by Dodong and Marge who overwhelmed Jovie and Mau Ita-as 15-7, 15-8 while Ell and Dodong thumped Elmer and Jovie 15-10, 15-5 and the tandem of Martin and Marge overcame Anthony and Mau 15-11, 16-14.
Red scored through Elmer River and Anthony when they outlasted Ell and Martin 15-11, 12-15, 15-12.
Ladies A
In Ladies A,there were six teams – two teams of Hankook tires (Black & Blue), two Western Union Money Transfer squads (Orange & Yellow), SK Engineering & Construction (Green) and Worley Parsons Resources & Energy (Red).
Orange gained the title in Ladies A when they were leveled on 2 wins and 6 points against Red but after the total points had been tallied Orange were ahead by 135-129 points. Orange scored through Beng Pastor and Mhe Ann Golpo, who thumped Anne Diaz and Gren Padrones 15-12, 15-12 while Elsie San Juan and Annie Centeno outlasted Keesha Ng and Beth Millado 11-15, 15-9, 15-11.
Red bounced back through Anne and Keesha, who tamed Beng and Elsie 15-13, 15-13 while the tandem of Gren and Beth edged Mhe Ann and Annie 15-12, 10-15, 15-11.
Earlier in the semi finals Orange scored 2 wins as did Black but Orange gained 7-5 points against Black as Beng and Elsie thrashed Nihar Esmula and Sang Piscasio 15-8, 15-5 while Elsie with Annie wasted no effort to beat Sang and Shirley Iglesias 15-4, 15-7.
Black retaliated through Marivic Clemans and Shirley when they overcame Mhe Ann and Annie 15-12, 17-15 while Nihar with Marivic outlasted Beng and Mhe Ann 7-15, 15-13, 16-14.
Red moved on to compete in the championship finals when they scored 3-1 win and 9-3 points against Green after Cherry and Keesha brushed side Lhen Vidal and Susan Santos 15-6, 15-12, Gren and Beth overcame Felina Nicolau and Shai Ilaya 15-12, 15-14 and Keesha with Beth overwhelmed Susan and Shai 15-11, 15-7.
Green did not walk home empty handed when the girl power of Lhen and Felina crushed Cherry and Gren 15-9, 15-6.
Mixed D
This was the most attended class with 9 teams: Western Union Money Transfer three (Orange,Red & White), SK Engineering & Construction two(Blue & Yellow),Worley Parsons Resources & Energy two (Gray & Purple) and Hankook Tires two (Green & Black).
Yellow bagged the crown in the Mixed D class when they tied Gray with 2 wins but gained 7-5 points after Gerry Torio and Ronaldo Marquez thumped Merna Campomayor and Daisy Villanueva 15-10, 15-12 while Ronaldo and Rushi Flores 15-8, 15-10.
Gray finished 1st runners-up when they scored through Cedric Isidro and Mary Jane Lamenggong who beat Ayla Alarilla and Rushi Flores15-11, 15-13 while Merna and Cedric Isidro edged Gerry and Ayla Alarilla 15-9, 12-15, 15-12.
Earlier in the semi finals, Gray scored the same 2 wins as did Orange but Gray got 7-5 points through Cedric and Mary Jane who overwhelmed Lyn Gamit and Danilo Basco 15-12, 15-13 while Merna and Cedric overpowered Bobot Modesto and Lyn 15-10, 15-9.
Orange bounced back through Bobot and Beth when they edged Merna and Daisy 8-15, 15-10, 15-11 while Beth and Danilo overwhelmed DDaisy and Mary Jane 15-14, 15-11.
Yellow tied Green with 2 wins but they scored 7-5 points as Gerry and Ronaldo brushed aside Irwin Climaco and Roselle Lunaria 15-11, 15-7 while Gerry and Ayla Torio outlasted Irwin Climaco and Stella Cagampang 15-14, 8-15, 15-5 and Stella and Art edge Ayla and Rushi 15-9, 14-15, 15-14.
Mixed D Teen Doubles
After the score had been tallied in the Mixed D Teen doubles Hammie Ita-as was found to have acquired the title as he gathered a total of 51 points and on his trail was 1st runner-up Irene Climaco with 47 points, Carlo Nicolau was 2nd runner-up with 45 points and Ayem Miole 3rd runner-up with 43 points.
The championship matches saw Hammie Itaas and Carlo Nicolau edge Irene Climaco and Ayem Miole 17-14,while Hammie with Ayem outlasted Irene and Carlo 16-14 and Hammie with Irene thumped Ayem and Carlo 18-13.
