KUWAIT CITY, Nov 30: Jabriya Indian School clinched the 12th CBSE Kuwait Cluster Interschool Soccer Tournament for Boys second time in a row. It was indeed a proud moment for the team and the school.
The tournament was organised by Jabriya Indian School and saw the keen participation of 13 Indian schools of Kuwait. In the league match JIS defeated IES 3-2. In the quarter-finals JIS exhibiting a fine performance defeated UIS with a score of 5-4. In the semifinals JIS defeated Carmel School 1-0. Afif JIS ace-player and Captain scored the goal. DPS crushed IPS 3-1 in the other semifinals. And in the finals played between JIS and FAIPS, FAIPS was leading with 2-0 at half time. In the second half JIS leveled the score (2-2) Karam and Djibril scoring the goals. During extra time the score was same again. In the penalty shootout the score was 3-3. In the sudden death JIS beat DPS 3-2 and lifted the trophy. Afif, Djibril, Ahamed Sulaiman Daniel, Sayed, Hassan scored for JIS while Afif was declared the Best Player of the tournament.

The absolute spectacular success of the JIS team was made possible by the brilliant performance of each member of the team and excellent coaching by their mentor K.M. Jose. The victory qualifies JIS to represent Kuwait Cluster in the CBSE National Football tournament in India.
The closing ceremony that followed was witnessed by a galaxy of distinguished guests which included chief guest Mohammed Mansour Project director, Kuwait Controls Co and which President of the Kuwait Sports Welfare Association, Shantha Maria, Convener Kuwait Cluster, Guests of Honour Pancily Varkey, General Manager UAE Exchange, Ramdas, Marketing Manager UAE Exchange Co, Jose Thomas, Marketing Manager Bahrain Exchange Co, Nagendra Singh, Area Manager Mughal Mahal, Mrs Usha Varkey, Principal JIS and DK Sharma, Manager JIS were also present and presented mementos to the dignitaries.

In an impressive presentation ceremony Mohammed Mansour handed over the big gleaming and glittering champions trophy to the winners JIS while Jose Thomas and Nagendra Singh awarded the medals and certificates to FAIPS amidst thunderous applause. Medals and certificates to the winning school was given by Pancily Varkey and Ramdas to JIS. Special individual awards, and medals for outstanding performance were given by Principal Usha Varkey and Mohammed Mansour. semifinals, finals and some other matches were controlled by referees, Richard, Midas, Christopher Fernandes, Michael Dias etc. Congratulations to the JIS team and its mentor KD Jose for yet another laurel in their crown of achievements.
