‘Appeals’ acquits top official of firm accused of forgery Criminal Court acquits 3 charged with forging docus, stealing seals of ministry

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 26: The Appeals Court acquitted the managing director of a contracting company charged with forging professional documents. A Court of First Instance had earlier sentenced him to six months imprisonment followed by deportation.
The case file indicates the defendant and four others were accused of forging two contract documents for dubious reasons intended for financial gains.
The defense lawyer argued the plaintiff hadn’t participated in the contract and had no authority to file a case. He stressed the Court of First Instance made a mistake because his client’s action couldn’t be described as forgery or crime.
Meanwhile, the The Criminal Court has acquitted three people who had been charged with forging official documents and stealing the seals of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and acting as go-between in a bribery case, reports Al-Anba daily.
However the daily added the court sentenced the main accused to four years imprisonment and fined him KD 3,000 and refrained from issuing a sentence against another person.
The Public Prosecution had accused the five men of forging 26 work permits by illegally allowing the transfer of their residence permits to another sponsor.
The defence lawyers representing the three acquitted persons said there were no proofs in case papers to link their clients to the case.
