GCC woman nabbed in visa trafficking
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Personnel from the General Immigration Department have taken into custody a female citizen of an unidentified GCC state for bringing into the country 40 domestic workers using the IDs of Kuwaiti women, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added during interrogation she admitted to working in collusion with some people and sold the visas for KD 750 each to her acquaintances and relatives.
When several people found domestic workers whom they don’t know under their sponsorship they filed complaints and head of the General Department for Investigation Major-General Abdullah Al-Rashed requested for a thorough inquiry into the incident.
The suspect will be summoned for interrogation.
Deportation set: Police have arrested three women — 2 Syrians and an Egyptian — for begging for alms, reports Al-Anba daily.
They were arrested at well-known shopping malls. They have been referred to the concerned authorities to prepare their deportation from the country.
A police source says the Syrians arrived in the country on visit visas while the Egyptian holds a valid dependence visa.
Police have seized from the beggars medical documents which claimed they were in need of money for medical treatment.
Nigerians caught: Police have arrested two Nigerians for forging US dollars, reports Al-Anba daily.
A police source said the security authorities acting on information put the suspects under surveillance and caught them in a trap set by police while exchanging counterfeit $100,000 for KD 10,000.
During interrogation the two Nigerians admitted to carrying out their activities in more than one Gulf state before their arrival in Kuwait. The men have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Woman robbed: A burglar broke into the house of a 36-year-old Lebanese woman and stole her jewelry worth KD 1,500, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The woman, who is a bank employee, discovered the theft when she returned home from work. In a report she filed at the Salmiya Police Station, the woman said the door of her apartment was open when she came. Personnel from the Criminal Evidence Department lifted fingerprints from the scene and police are now looking for the culprit.
Line thieves held: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department recently raided an apartment in Hawalli and arrested four Asians including a woman for stealing government telephone lines and referred them to the authorities, reports Al-Shahed daily.
