Move to employ citizens in int’l banks in Kuwait ‘GMRP ready to offer help through meets’

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 24, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Government and Manpower Restructuring Program (GMRP) aim through cooperation with Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) to employ Kuwaitis at branches of foreign banks in the country, GMRP Secretary General Dr Waleed Al-Wahib said here Wednesday.

Al-Wahib said in a statement GMRP’s interference comes at a time when the grace period given by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) to such foreign banks for making the national labor account for 60 percent of their staff is about to end.

He also said that there is continuing cooperation between GMRP and all governmental and non-governmental bodies on restructuring the manpower in implementation of the articles of the law on supporting national labor and encouraging them to work in the private sector institutions and companies.
Al-Wahib said that GMRP is ready to offer help and directly coordinate stances through sponsoring meetings between the branches of foreign banks and KBA in order to discuss all proposals and finding suitable solutions that help achieve the desired cooperation.

He concluded by saying that GMRP aims at holding meetings between KBA and managers of foreign banks to coordinate stances and help support the national labor and encourage them to work in the private sector in the earliest.
