The tension-provoking lawmakers use the grilling as a tool for serving personal interests
MINISTERS no longer shiver every time they hear the threats of lawmakers to submit a grilling request against them, because the tension-provoking MPs have emptied the tool of its content and power through their endless chatter on such a vital parliamentary process.
We are aware that the interpellation requests in democratic countries are submitted only to address serious issues. In some countries, this tool comes in the form of questions forwarded to the concerned minister, who either responds in a parliamentary session or requests for more time to clarify the issues. These procedures are taken in a peaceful manner, away from legislative chaos.
In Kuwait, the tension-provoking lawmakers use the grilling as a tool for serving personal interests. These lawmakers have actually succeeded in interfering in the affairs of the ministers.
Nevertheless, it seems the grilling has lost its chilling effect on the ministers, who have started to laugh at those trying to put pressure on them through this tool. The ministers now enjoy watching those who have been issuing grilling threats as if this important parliamentary procedure has become a funny game.
Forgive us!
