Minister refers doctors, staff for probe in fraudulent medical trips Asian duo caught with liquor

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 22: Minister of Health, Dr Hilal Al-Sayer was recently quoted as saying doctors and several people working for the Overseas Medical Treatment Department of the ministry have been referred to the Public Prosecution after finding forged transactions to send people abroad for treatment, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Al-Sayer added a committee had been formed earlier to investigate the alleged irregularities.
According to investigators some employees and doctors are involved and the committee’s findings will be referred to the concerned authorities for further action.

Asian duo caught with liquor: Two Asian nationals were arrested by securitymen on patrol for the possession of 17 bottles of locally brewed gin in Jleeb Shuyoukh.
Sources said the patrolmen noticed a car parked in front of a building in the area late at night, with the two Asians inside it. As they approached the car, the suspects are said to have tried to escape. This prompted the officers to search inside the car, and they found liquor. The suspects were arrested immediately and referred to the concerned authority for necessary action.

TV scribes assaulted: Police have arrested the brother of a former MP for assaulting three photographers — two bedoun and a Kuwaiti - employees of a local TV station, reports Al-Shahed daily.
In their complaint to the Firdous Police Station the victims said the suspect beat them and damaged their cameras while they were taking pictures in the area and submitted medical reports to substantiate their claims.
However, when police summoned the suspect, he claimed the men did not take permission to take pictures of the houses in the area. A case has been registered.

Police nab drug peddler: Police have arrested a bedoun man for trafficking in narcotics, reports Al-Shahed daily.
The daily quoting security sources said police acting on information put the suspect under surveillance, set a trap for him and caught him in a suburb of Jahra with 3,000 narcotic pills which were hidden under the seat of his car.
During interrogation the trafficker admitted to smuggling the pills from Iraq. The contraband and the suspect have been referred to the General Department for Drug Control.
