Gas leak kills 2 Bangladeshis: Two Bangladeshis, aged 18 and 40, died and two others are in serious condition after inhaling gas which leaked from a gas cylinder whole night. All four of them were sleeping inside a room in a factory in Amghara scrap area, say sources, adding eight cylinders were placed in the room and gas leaked out from one of them.
Sources say other factory workers who reported to work in the morning saw the ghastly sight and promptly notified the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry.
Securitymen and firefighters rushed to the scene, opened the windows of the room and started investigating the cause of the leak. Meanwhile, the remains of the victims were sent to Forensics and the other two Bangladeshis were referred to Jahra Hospital.
Sources say investigations are going on to find out if someone deliberately caused the leak or it was genuinely an accident.
One dead, 4 hurt as fight erupts at dinner for returning pilgrims: An unidentified person died and an 18-year-old Bedoun suffered serious injuries when several members of two families engaged in a fight at a dinner party in Kabad on Sunday.
Sources revealed one of the families organized a dinner party in honor of their relatives who returned to the country after performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia. During the celebration, a heated argument ensued between an 18-year-old Bedoun and an unidentified person due to earlier disputes. The argument is said to have escalated into a fistfight until the latter stabbed the Bedoun in the head and abdomen. This infuriated the brothers of the Bedoun and they took revenge by stabbing the other person several times. Both of them were referred to Farwaniya Hospital but the latter died before reaching the hospital while the Bedoun is now confined at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It has been reported that over 20 persons were involved in the fight.
However, another fight broke out at the hospital between more than 200 relatives and friends of both victims. Around 60 securitymen were deployed to the hospital, resulting in the arrest of 12 of those involved in the fight. Three security officers sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies during the melee as they tried to control the feuding parties and took knives from them. High ranking security officials were also present and the fight caused damages to some medical equipment at the hospital.
Case number 72/2010 was registered and investigations are ongoing to identify the actual circumstances leading to the fight, which resulted in the death of a yet-to-be identified person.
